Professional wrestler Jeff Jarrett has shared that Taylor Swift once put on a three-hour private concert at his home for his wife who was suffering from cancer.
Swift helped the family through a ‘dark period’
The 58-year-old wrestler previously shared that Taylor Swift helped his family during a ‘very, very dark period’.
He has now revealed she once performed for his young children and wife after she was diagnosed with cancer.
This was before Swift got famous
Jarrett married his high school sweetheart Jill Gregory in 1992, whom he welcomed three daughters with. Jill has since tragically died from breast cancer in May 2007.
Swift performed for the family at their home before she became the superstar she is today.
They met her through a ‘small community’
At the time, the Jarretts had gotten to know Swift after she and her family moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Jarrett shared that Swift had stood out among their ‘small community’, becoming known for her ambitions to sing.
She also used to babysit his kids
In an appearance with WREG last year, the wrestler also shared that Swift used to babysit his kids, saying, “She’s a friend of the family. She was very good to my family during a very, very dark period.”
He explained she became a ‘big sister’
“My wife got sick, and she passed away,” Jarrett said at the time.
“But Taylor was like a big sister and came over and took the girls, baking cookies, and just kind of hung out at the house. I can’t say enough good things about Taylor.”
She once put on an impromptu concert
In a more recent interview with TMZ Sports published Saturday, August 30, Jarrett shared that Swift once performed an impromptu and private three-hour-long concert for his wife and three daughters amid Jill’s battle with cancer.
It was the year before his wife passed
Jarrett shared, “It was Christmas of 2006. My first wife was really ill with breast cancer. She passed away about five months after this, so she was really ill.”
17-year-old Swift was still in the early stages of her career back then, having only just landed her first hit single Tim McGraw.
A friend of Swift’s suggested the concert
Jarrett shared that a friend of the singer’s suggested she stop by, adding, “Obviously, like every little girl in America, my daughters were big Taylor fans, and her songs had just kind of broke, but she was a hometown girl.”
People started turning up at his home
“She came over and didn’t bring her guitar in, but she actually ran back home that day because the girls wanted her to sing and play,” Jarrett recalled.
He added that by the time she was performing, around 45 people were at his home.
They bonded together during her performance
“By the end of the afternoon, Taylor played about three hours,” Jarrett shared.
“We’d known her beforehand in the community. But that was where I think she kind of bonded with the family, specifically with the girls.”
