Owen Cooper, a 15-year-old actor from the UK, has broken the record for youngest male to ever win an acting award at the Emmys, and people are starstruck by his success.

As the 2025 Emmy Awards ceremony took place on Sunday, September 14, Owen Cooper stood to accept his award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or TV Movie.
He was the lead in a Netflix limited drama
Cooper was the lead actor in the Netflix limited drama Adolescence, playing 13-year-old Jamie Miller who gets arrested on suspicion of a horrific murder.
The drama was a breakout success, with people all over the world praising the cast and crew for the outstanding story.

He said, “Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn’t expect to be in the United States, never mind here.”

Cooper hadn’t been acting prior to his role as Jamie Miller in Adolescence, making this an Emmy award for his debut role.
He broke the record for youngest ever male Emmy winner in the category, which was previously held by Michael A. Goorjian, who was 23 years old when he won for David’s Mother in 1994.

Owen also broke the record for youngest male actor to ever win a PrimeTime Emmy, which was previously held by 16-year-old Scott Jacoby who received it for his role in The Certain Summer in 1973.
