Seth Rogen has expressed that he’s ‘embarrassed’ by his Emmy wins at the 2025 edition of the award ceremony on Sunday night, September 14.
He accepted three awards last night
Seth Rogen, who had not been an Emmy award winner before September 14, won three trophies that night.
He accepted awards for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Writing for a Comedy Series, and Directing for a Comedy Series.
Rogen went on stage with co-creators
Taking the stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Rogen accepted the award for Outstanding Comedy Series on behalf of the Apple TV+ show The Studio along with co-creators Evan Goldberg, Alex Gregory, Peter Huyck and Frida Perez.
Rogen felt awkward about accepting so many awards
The writer and actor admitted that he felt awkward about accepting yet another award that night.
He had already won Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Best Writing for a Comedy Series and Best Directing for a Comedy Series.
He felt it was ‘embarrassing’ for him
“Thank you, it’s getting embarrassing,” Rogen expressed on stage. “I really appreciate it, in all honesty.”
“I’ll do my best attempt at sincerity here: If you watched our show, if you appreciated our show, if you voted for our show, especially, thank you very much.”
Rogen was ecstatic about the wins
“I’m legitimately embarrassed by how happy this makes me,” the Superbad actor added.
“And to be standing up here with all these people, these are the best people I know. And to have them spend their days with me, working with me, is truly one of the great honors of my life.”
The show was nominated for 23 awards
The Studio, which won Outstanding Comedy Series, had been nominated for 23 awards at the Emmys.
It beat fellow comedy show nominees The Bear, Nobody Wants This, Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building, Shrinking, What We Do In The Shadows and Hacks, which won the award last year.
Rogen said The Studio is based on his lived experience
In an appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Rogen said The Studio is heavily based on his personal experience working in Hollywood, with some scenes even inspired by real award show moments.
“There’s an episode in particular about the Golden Globes and the whole thing is my character just wants desperately to be thanked in the Golden Globe speech, which is very important to Hollywood executives.”
He recalled the incident that inspired it
“Years ago, we made a film that won a Golden Globe, and at the afterparty, we saw one of the executives crying, and we assumed they were crying because we won and they were happy,” Rogen recalled in March.
“We went over and we’re like, ‘We won! Is that why you’re crying?’ And they said, ‘No, they forgot to thank me during the speech.’”
The executive wasn’t too happy to learn about the episode
Rogen added that the anonymous exec wasn’t exactly thrilled to learn that the incident had been turned into a comedy episode.
“The person who it’s based on knows that we made a whole episode about it,” he added, “and, in no uncertain terms, yelled at me very recently.”
