Rock star Ace Frehley’s cause of death has now been revealed following his death on October 16. He was 74 years old.
The music icon died last month
Frehley’s death was announced by his family in a statement to People Magazine on October 16. The rock star, born Paul Frehley, died in Morristown, New Jersey following a fall.
This came after TMZ had reported that he was on life support due to a brain bleed caused by a fall weeks prior.
His cause of death is now revealed
The founding KISS member has now been revealed to have died of blunt trauma injuries to his head due to a fall, as confirmed by the Morris County Medical Examiner on Monday, November 10.
His death was ruled as an accident. He was 74 years old.
Frehley’s family had put out a statement
In the statement announcing the rocker’s death, his family said, “We are completely devastated and heartbroken.”
“In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth.”
They reflected on his achievements
“We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others,” the statement continued.
“The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”
He wrote about his fall weeks ago
The rocker told his fans about the fall he endured in a statement on Instagram back on September 25.
He described it as ‘minor’ and noted that he would have to cancel a performance scheduled for the next day in Lancaster, California based on doctor’s advice.
Frehley then canceled the rest of his tour
Frehley eventually canceled the rest of his 2025 tour dates on October 6, only saying that it was ‘due to ongoing medical issues’.
The guitarist was known for his ‘Spaceman’ persona and makeup in KISS, which he co-founded in 1973 but left in 1982.
He formed another band and had a solo career
Following his departure from KISS, Frehley formed his own group called Frehley’s Comet, which put out two albums.
The rock star also launched a successful solo career in 1978 which went platinum upon debut. In 2014, he became the only KISS member to get on the Top 10 of Billboard’s 200 albums chart with a solo album.
