John Stamos was asked if he would leave his wife Caitlin McHugh for Lori Loughlin, to which he had a very fiery response.
He recently spoke about Loughlin
In a recent appearance on the Good Guys podcast, Stamos, 62, expressed his admiration for his longtime friend Lori Loughlin and expressed his opinions about her soon-to-be ex-husband, Mossimo Giannulli.
Loughlin and Stamos played the couple Aunt Becky and Uncle Jesse on the popular ‘80s and ‘90s sitcom Full House.
Stamos said they never dated in real life
The actor explained that he and Loughlin, 61, never dated in real life. “A lot of people think, ‘Oh, you guys were romantic,’ or whatever,” Stamos said.
“You know, I happened to say she was the one that got away in something — I think it was before I met [wife] Caitlin [McHugh] — and, you know, it was an interesting thing.”
He explained how he thinks it started
“I wrote about in the book, there was a very small window of the two of us being single at the same time,” Stamos went on, referring to his 2023 memoir.
He said younger Loughlin was like Sandy in Greece ‘before the leather’, while his ex-wife Rebecca Romijn ‘was Sandy after the leather and the, ‘Tell me about it, stud.’”
Stamos believes he had the choice at some point
“There was a moment where I had the choice, I think, and I was more into the rebellious,” the actor admitted.
“Lori was so sweet, and I loved working with her, but she was too nice for me,” he added.
News of Loughlin’s split came earlier this month
This comes after news of Loughlin’s split from her husband of nearly 28 years, Mossimo Giannulli, broke on October 3.
Stamos shared that he and McHugh have been supporting Loughlin through the difficult time.
He noted they’ve shown their support
“It’s not a clear thing all the time with something like this,” Stamos said.
“She lives in my neighborhood, Lori, and so, you know, I was over there a lot and she came to our house a couple times and Caitlin’s been good about it.”
Then the podcasters asked him a ‘big’ question
On the podcast, hosts Ben Soffer and Josh Peck joked that ‘the biggest question’ fans submitted for Stamos was asking if he would ‘ever leave your wife for’ Loughlin.
“No f***ing way!” Stamos exclaimed, adding, “I’m not Mormon. Do you do that with your wife? Are you a swinger?”
They might have had an intimate moment
Stamos also revealed in the conversation that although the relationship between him and Loughlin was ‘always platonic’, there might have been a moment where they were intimate.
“I always thought that we made out on some ride at Disneyland — I’ve known her since the early ’80s. I remembered, I think she said it didn’t happen,” he said. “So, I don’t know if it was something I made up in my mind. You know, some kind of fantasy.”
