People online are shocked to hear JD Vance’s response to why he wanted to become the Vice President.
He was in California on Saturday
The VP was visiting the Marine Corps’ Camp Pendleton in California on Saturday, October 18, where he shared the reason why he wanted to become the Vice President of the United States.
He was there for the 250th anniversary
Vance was visiting to celebrate the Marines’ 250th anniversary. He himself served in the Marines for four years and was deployed to Iraq in 2005.
They didn’t hold back on the celebrations, which included fighter jets, Navy vessels, helicopters, and live artillery.
Vance gave a speech
Speaking at the major event, Vance revealed why he wanted to become vice president.
He said, “You know, I’ve been asked many times why did I want to run for, and become, vice president of the United States – and there’s a lot of answers, of course, to that question.”
He revealed the real reason
“I wanted to serve our wonderful commander in chief, President Donald J. Trump, and I know we’re proud of him,” Vance said, per The Economic Times.
“And, of course, I wanted to serve the American people and make their lives better, but really, deep down, I wanted the commandant of the Marine Corps to have to salute a member of the E4 Mafia, and now he has to.”
People online didn’t like this
His answer wasn’t exactly met with everyone’s acceptance, with many people online expressing their bafflement.
One user noted, “Not to serve America, people. To serve Donald Trump.”
Many weren’t on board with the sentiment
Another user wrote, “JD Vance’s admission of serving Trump over America is a disgrace. As VP, his oath is to the nation, not a single man.”
“This loyalty swap mocks the Marine Corps’ values he claims to honor. Time to prioritize citizens, not cult leaders. #Vance #AmericaFirst #Trump,” they added.
Another user was clearly against it
A third person wrote, “Yeah—Vance’s ‘service’ is just another loyalty oath to the cult leader, not our Constitution.”
“Same dangerous vibe with Hegseth’s Christian nationalism masquerading as patriotism. America first, not Trump first! #VanceUnfit.”
