A woman has taken to an online community forum to share the shocking request her father made after he started dating her former high school teacher.

In a post on a community forum on Reddit, a woman wrote about her strained family dynamics.
She explained that her father, who is 52, is now engaged to her former high school English teacher, who is 34.
She claimed that he ‘cheated’
The Original Poster (OP) claimed that her father ‘cheated’ on her mother with the teacher, and alleged that the affair began while she was ‘still in high school’.
She wrote, “Apparently after I graduated, they ‘reconnected’ and began dating openly.”
Her father says it only became official later
OP added that her father insists the relationship only became official after she graduated, but added that it has already emotionally damaged their family.
“My mom was devastated. They divorced two years ago,” she wrote. “I went low contact with my dad because the whole thing just felt wrong.”

OP explained that she got more upset when her father called to tell her what he described as ‘exciting news’, which is that he was engaged to her former teacher.
He also requested that she be a bridesmaid at the wedding, saying it would be a sweet idea since she and his fiancée ‘go way back’.
She didn’t like the idea at all
“I thought it was a joke,” OP wrote. “It wasn’t.”
She went on to add that her father pushed further for the request, saying it would ‘mean a lot to show the world our families have healed.’
But she didn’t feel like celebrating his relationship
“I told him there’s nothing ‘healed’ about watching my teacher marry my dad,” she wrote, adding that her father responded to this by accusing her of being ‘dramatic’ and ‘still living in the past’.

Users under the post largely sided with the daughter, with many unable to comprehend the teacher’s lack of boundaries as well as her father’s request.
One user advised OP to ‘remember cheaters are selfish. They think and care about themselves only,’ and that she shouldn’t go to the wedding.
