Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift, both 35, announced their engagement in an Instagram post on Tuesday, August 26.
Kelce had shared his thoughts on marriage with the world a few weeks before popping the question.
They announced the news online

In a charming post on Instagram, Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in a series of photos showing the couple embracing.
In the caption, Swift wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Kelce had spoken about marriage

In a GQ Interview published only two weeks before the proposal announcement, Kelce had shared his candid thoughts on marriage.
He explained that despite his parents Ed and Donna Kelce’s divorce, he hopes to have a relationship that lasts.
He has hope for his relationship

The NFL superstar said, “The handful of my friends whose parents are still together and still thriving — those are situations I would love to have.”
“Not that I think my parents dealt with it the wrong way or anything like that,” he said.
Kelce plans on making it ‘last forever’
He went on, “It’s more so, if we’re gonna start this and do it, why not try and do it to last forever? Not just in a ‘It’s just for the kids’ aspect.”
The NFL star’s parents, who also share son Jason, 37, were married for 25 years before going their separate ways.
The reporter asked him about Swift

In the interview, the reporter asked Kelce if Donna and Swift share similar qualities as the NFL player once said his ideal partner would have the same qualities as his mom.
“Their kindness, their genuineness, their ability to say hello to everyone in the room,” Kelce answered. “Their ability to show love and support no matter what. And on top of that, their work ethic.”
He compared the two’s goals
Kelce went on, “I saw my mother reach goals that she had set for herself, go from being a teller to working all the way up in the KeyBank building.”
“I’ve seen Taylor do the exact same thing of setting goals for herself and exceeding the expectations and really captivating the world in that regard.
Kelce said they have a ‘normal’ romance
“When there is not a camera on us, we’re just two people that are in love,” Kelce said of him and Swift.
“It can be perceived as something else because of how much it is talked about and how much we are tracked whenever we do go out.”
He added it happened ‘organically’
“But I would say that it’s as normal of…. It happened very organically even though from a media standpoint it was being tracked. It still happened very organically,” Kelce added.
The couple’s engagement announcement on Tuesday has already garnered over 28 million likes, so the world is certainly happy for them!
