This is not a drill! Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have announced their engagement on social media on Tuesday, August 26, and it has sent their fans into a complete frenzy.
They posted it on Instagram
The couple announced their engagement in an Instagram post, sharing photos from Kelce’s proposal to Swift.
In the caption, the singer charmingly wrote, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
They shared a series of photos
Within the engagement post, the couple shared a series of photos from the proposal.
One showed Kelce down on one knee, another was a close-up of the singer’s engagement ring, and a few more pictures showed the couple embracing in a flowery set.
The couple were first seen together in 2023
Swift and Kelce publicly announced their relationship in 2023 when she started showing up to NFL games to support him.
On his podcast, Kelce shared that he’d initially planned to go to Swift’s Eras Tour concert and give her his number on a friendship bracelet but was heartbroken to find that she couldn’t receive it.
Everything worked out from there
Swift later heard about his plan to give her his number and it seems he got to have another chance after all.
Speaking to Wall Street Journal, Swift said, “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.”
They then started seeing each other
“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for because we got to get to know each other,” Swift added.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game. We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
The engagement sent her fans into a frenzy
As you can imagine, the announcement sent Swifties into true Taylor-mania. The couple’s post has garnered over 27 million likes already and fans took to social media to relay their excitement.
One person referred to having been a fan of Swift’s for years, writing on X, “I AM SO HAPPY FOR MY CLOSE AND PERSONAL FRIEND TAYLOR SWIFT.”
