Tim Allen is one of the most recognizable faces , and voices, in Hollywood. His roles range from loveable dads on TV to Santa Claus himself , and with a career that spans nearly 5 decades, it’s safe to say everyone is a Tim Allen fan.
Now, his buddy and Toy Story costar Tom Hanks is sharing everyone’s confusion as to why the beloved Hollywood actor didn’t get to reprise his role in the new film, Lightyear.
Tim Allen is a man with many hats.
A hard hat from his time as Tim Taylor the Tool Man on Home Improvement. A red and white hat from his iconic role as Santa Claus in the Santa Clause franchise. A space…hat as Buzz Lightyear in the epic Toy Story films.
It’s hard to pinpoint just one iconic character for Tim, but if I had to pick one, it would be Buzz Lightyear.

Sure, he is a fan-favorite Santa Claus, but you can only watch those movies three times a year, whereas Toy Story can be enjoyed during any and every season!
As you may know, the feature film about the beloved toy astronot Buzz Lightyear premiered in theaters last month.
The film, aptly titled Lightyear , has received mixed reviews. Unfortunately, many of the critiques include homophobic remarks involving a kiss between two men. Chris Evans, who voiced Buzz, has been open about his disappointment in people’s reactions to the same-sex kiss.
“The real truth is those people are idiots,” Chris said during an interview with Reuters Television.

“There’s always going to be people who are afraid and unaware and trying to hold on to what was before. But those people die off like dinosaurs,” he added.
Chris’ performance and activism have been praised by fans and critics, but actor Tom Hanks is still confused as to why his longtime pal Tim Allen didn’t get a chance to voice Buzz in the feature film.
In a new interview with CinemaBlend, the Elvis actor wasn’t afraid of being candid when it came to the movie’s casting.
During the interview, Tom was asked how he felt about his film “Elvis” being out at the same time as “Lightyear.”

“How about that?” Tom said. “I actually wanted to go head-to-head with Tim Allen and then they didn’t let Tim Allen do it. I don’t understand that.”
We might not even know why they chose to replace Tim, but it’s good to know his buddy has his back!
