Taylor Swift has reportedly been offered to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, but turned it down after the NFL refused to fulfill a ‘major request’.
She could’ve headlined the show
The Blank Space singer could have headlined the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime show in February 2026, something that would surely excite all Swifties.
But this is not the case after she reportedly made a request from the NFL, and they turned it down.
Bad Bunny is the one performing
Rather than Swift, the NFL announced on September 28 that Bad Bunny would be the one headlining the show next year.
The Puerto Rican-born rapper, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, shared his excitement about the milestone.
He put out a statement on it
On headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show, Bad Bunny said, “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown.”
The artist felt proud for his people
He went on, “This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL. (Go and tell grandma that we will be the HALFTIME SHOW of the Super Bowl).”
The NFL commissioner spoke about Swift
Before Bad Bunny was announced as the headliner, speculations were circulating on whether Swift would take the slot.
NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, had extended an open invitation to Swift, saying on the Today Show, “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”
He was asked whether it was ‘in the works’
When asked if a performance from Swift was ‘in the works’, Goodell said, “I can’t tell you anything about that. It’s a maybe.”
But journalist Rob Shuter has since claimed that the potential deal didn’t work out.
Shuter alleged it was about the footage
The journalist alleged that Swift, who is engaged to Kansas City Chiefs’ Travis Kelce, couldn’t come to an agreement on footage of the performance.
It was reported by WCNC that she wished to ‘retain ownership of her performance and secure slots promoting her own projects’, but the NFL ‘flatly refused’, per The Dallas Morning News.
The singer knows her worth
An Industry source claimed, “She knows the kind of ratings she brings, the global attention she commands. She wasn’t about to hand that over for free,” per TalkSport.
They added, “The NFL flatly refused. Taylor Swift doesn’t need exposure. She wanted a deal that reflected her value.”
