And now? She just dropped some MAJOR music news—her next album is on the way, and it’s a collab with, as she puts it, “my best friend” Blanco.
She had already dropped some hints on the topic
On Feb. 13, the Rare Beauty founder posted a photo of a handwritten note on Instagram Stories that said, “I said I love you first.” Not long after, Benny reposted it on his stories. Was it a sweet message? A song title? Turns out, it was both.
And her fans picked up on some of the clues
“I always trick you guys,” Selena posted on Instagram. “My NEW album I Said I Love You First with my best friend @itsbennyblanco is out on 3/21. Our first song, ‘Scared of Loving You,’ is out now on all streaming platforms. Merchandise and signed products for the album are available for pre-order now. We can’t wait to share this special project with you soon!”
Benny Blanco has worked with major artists
Benny Blanco’s got a pretty stacked resume. He was nominated for 11 Grammys and worked with everyone, including Ed Sheeran, BTS, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande… the list goes on.
Selena and Benny have worked together before
This isn’t the first time these two have worked together. Back in 2019, they did Selena’s single featuring J Balvin, I Can’t Get Enough.
In January, a fan on TikTok begged Benny to “please make some new songs for our queen.” His response was a video of Selena in a home studio, adjusting a mic, showing that something was definitely in the works.
The first single Scared of Loving You is out now
That first single? Already out. The lyric video, which she co-wrote with Blanco and Finneas, just dropped on streaming platforms. As for the album itself, it’s coming via SMG Music/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope Records. Big things ahead!
The couple started dating in 2023
The two artists started dating in July 2023—right around her birthday, according to Benny on The Howard Stern Show in May 2024. But it wasn’t until late that year that fans really started picking up on it.
She commented on one of the fan pages: “Why has he been the best thing that’s ever happened to me. He’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with.” The 32-year-old singer made it obvious that she loves her fiancé like a love song (sorry, had to).
