Actor Johnny Depp has reached a milestone of followers on TikTok just two days after creating his account and one day after posting his first video.
The defamation trial between Johnny, 58, and his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, has taken over social media from start to finish, and perhaps no social media was more inundated with content than TikTok, where clips of the trial went viral and where many of the trial’s most famous moments were livestreamed to a captive audience. It’s not surprising, then, that many people on the platform were quick to follow Depp when he made an account of his own.
The defamation trial between Johnny and Amber lasted for six weeks.
In the end, the jurors declared that Depp had won his defamation suit and awarded him with $15 million in damages. The jury also awarded Amber Heard with $2 million in damages after concluding she had been defamed as well.
Following the trial, fans were quick to notice that Depp had created an account on TikTok.
Within two days, Depp’s account had amassed over 8 million followers.

His first video was an impactful one. After a brief film-style countdown, the video contains many clips of his fans standing in front of the courthouse in Virginia supporting him during the trial, with clips that included Johnny himself waving at fans or watching them as his van drives by.
It was Depp’s caption that caught the most attention.
He wrote, “To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared. And now, we will all move forward together.”
He ended on an emotional note.
“You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD.”
At time of writing, Johnny’s video has amassed 17 million plays, 5 million likes, and almost 300k comments.
