It’s been two years since Schitt’s Creek ended and the beloved comedy still dominates our lives.
We say “baby” in Moira’s accent, long to meet colorful characters in a small town , and say “ew, David” under our breaths whenever something annoying happens.
If this sounds like you, here’s some good news: there may be a Schitt’s Creek reunion movie in the works!
The end of ‘Schitt’s Creek’ has been hard on everybody.
The CBC comedy, which was co-created by father and son, Dan and Eugene Levy , first aired in 2015. It followed the Rose family as they go from wealth to poverty after a business manager tanked their fortune.
While the show aired in 2015, it didn’t hit mainstream traction until 2017.
Netflix played a huge part in this by steaming the show. Soon, word-of-mouth helped people learn about the humble comedy with sharp writing, laugh-out-loud moments, and loveable characters.
The show went on to be a massive success at the 2019 Emmys, winning the award for Best Comedy.
By the end of the sixth and final season, the show swept the 2020 Emmys with nine trophies. Despite these huge wins, both fans and the cast were sad about the show coming to an end.
Series lead Catherine O’Hara shared that it was “hard to let go” of the show and her ‘Schitt’s Creek’ family after the final season.
She played the eccentric Moira with an affinity for the arts and wigs. “I was spoiled right at the very beginning with Second City and SCTV … it’s really hard to let go once you’ve had it at this point,” she told Us Weekly .
Dan Levy has said that writing the final episode was so easy.
He said that it only took three hours to write and that a script had never “come so easily.” He also said that it was “the best way we could have ever ended the show.”
Although equally sad, Annie Murphy has been hopeful about a ‘Schitt’s Creek’ movie.
As are we! She has joked that she’s been sending Dan five dollars a day in the mail as a bribe. “So far I have not heard back about a movie officially. But, oh, my God, I would be just over the moon if that ever came to pass because I miss everyone so much every day,” she told Us Weekly .
“Just to see Moira again, I would pay a lot of money to do that,” Murphy continued.
“Did David and Patrick adopt a kid? I sure hope Alexis doesn’t because I think she is perhaps not quite in that yet, but I don’t know. I just want to see everyone on screen again and I will be a happy camper.”
These are all questions that just may be answered soon.
That’s because, after years of hinting at a possible movie , Dan gave hope to fans everywhere when he said that it’s not a question of if, but when. Ahh! Be still our hearts!
“My hope is that one day we can all get together,” he said in an interview with ‘People.’
“I see these people all the time. We’re in constant contact with each other. So the love is there. The desire to work together is there, and the desire to tell more stories is there.”
He said that it all comes down to making sure it’s the right story to tell.
“And I think we’re also proud of the work we did on Schitt’s ,” he continued. “And when you end on such a high, it really forces you to think very carefully about what the next step is.”

So while a reunion of sorts is definitely in the cards, no steps will be made until it’s perfect.
“I think when you have an audience that’s paid attention to you for 80 episodes of a television show, the last thing you want is to put something out that makes them think this feels like a cash grab,” Levy said . “And that’s not what we’re about. So TBD, but a TBD with an exclamation mark on the end.”
