Catherine Zeta-Jones has shared an ‘unfortunate’ admission about life with her husband Michael Douglas, whom she’s been married to for almost 25 years.
They got married in 2000
Zeta-Jones, 56, and Douglas, 81, met back in 1998 at the Deauville Film Festival where they clearly hit it off as they tied the knot two years later in November 2000.
They now share son Dylan, 25, and daughter Carys, 22, between them.
They took a break in 2013
The pair’s relationship seems pretty strong from the outside, but they actually separated for a year in August 2013 before reconciling.
In an Interview published on Monday, September 29, Zeta-Jones told Hello! magazine the ‘unfortunate’ thing about their family.
She made an admission
Speaking to the outlet, Zeta-Jones expressed how her own self-confessed competitiveness runs in the family, which can sometimes have its drawbacks.
When asked by the magazine whether she has a competitive household, Zeta-Jones admitted, “Yes I do. We all unfortunately… We all [do]. But it’s a healthy one.”
The couple have spoken about their breakup
The acting pair have done many interviews over the years where they discussed their year-long breakup in 2013, and how they managed to reconcile.
Speaking to The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015, Douglas said, “It can’t be a one-way street.”
He loves Zeta-Jones enough to make it work
“But I’m crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times,” the Wall Street actor added.
He went on to express that life in the public eye isn’t easy, with the exposure often getting to them.
It was difficult but they got back together
Douglas continued, “The only problem is, as you well know, we’re all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most. We’re back stronger than ever.”
The pair also share a birthday
The couple, who have been married for almost 25 years now, also share a birthday: September 25.
They made posts celebrating each other on Instagram last week, with Zeta-Jones penning, “Happy birthday Michael! Sharing this special day with you is once in a lifetime!”
Douglas also made her a post
Celebrating Zeta-Jones, Douglas posted, “To my birthday sister—what a joy celebrating another year with you! Congratulations on your spectacular game at the Celebrity Ryder Cup. Happy Birthday to the love of my life @catherinezetajones.”
