Steve Irwin’s daughter, TV personality and well-known conservationist, Bindi Irwin, shared an emotional post on Instagram about her late father, amid the devastating Australia wildfires.
It is likely that you’ve already heard about the devastating Australia wildfires that have been raging on through the country since July.
It is, sadly, the worst the country has seen in decades.
Authorities have reportedly been struggling to contain the blazes.
BBC reported that New South Wales has declared a state of emergency, and the air quality in Sydney, as of December, had reached 11 times the “hazardous” level due to the smoke.
Australia’s animals are fighting to stay alive as the flames sweep through a large part of the nation.
Ecologists from the University of Sydney recently estimated that around 500 million animals have died because of the wildfires in the last three months alone.
Some species are being wiped out entirely due to the fire while others are on the brink of extinction.
It is truly a crisis that especially hits home for the Irwin family.
Last week, Bindi Irwin took to Instagram to mark herself as safe and assure everyone that she and her family are working extra hard to save as many animals as possible.

She shared this photo of herself standing in front of a photo of her grandmother and her father, Steve Irwin.
“With so many devastating fires within Australia, my heart breaks for the people and wildlife who have lost so much,” she wrote.

“I wanted to let you know that we are SAFE.”
“There are no fires near us @AustraliaZoo or our conservation properties,” she confirmed.

She announced that her family’s animal hospital has, so far, treated over 90,000 patients.
“Our Wildlife Hospital is busier than ever though, having officially treated over 90,000 patients,” she wrote.

“My parents dedicated our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to my beautiful grandmother”.
“We will continue to honour her by being Wildlife Warriors and saving as many lives as we can,” she concluded.

Australian wildlife is going to need the help of Bindi’s family’s organization more than ever before!
Her post came not long after heartbreaking footage of kangaroos attempting to flee the bush fires went viral.
Although said kangaroos were rescued, the bottoms of their feet were badly burnt.
As the fires continue to spread, Bindi confessed that she wishes she could ask her father for some guidance.
Yesterday she took to Instagram again, sharing an emotional tribute to her dad.

She explained that she wishes he were still here to advise her during this difficult time.
She began by acknowledging her father’s entire life’s work.

“Dad spent his life working so hard to protect wildlife and wild places,” she wrote. “Especially in Australia.”
“I wish he was here right now,” she went on.

“To give advice and strength during this time of devastation with the bushfires.”
Thankfully, Steve left behind the incredible legacy that is his family, to carry on his work!
“I know that his spirit lives on through our conservation work,” she continued.

No truer words have been said! I’m sure that Steve would be so proud of the work his family is putting in right now to help animals affected by the wildfires.
“And I hope together we can make him proud,” she concluded.

We’re sending our thoughts and prayers to the people and animals of Australia, in hopes that the bush fires subside and the nation is able to recover.
