It is the worst the country has seen in decades.

A total of 18 people have died nationwide due to the fires, countless homes have been destroyed, as well as animals and their habitats.

Authorities have reportedly been struggling to contain the blazes.

BBC reported that New South Wales has declared a state of emergency as the wildfires steadily to rage on.

The high winds and scorching temperatures are being described as “widespread extreme fire danger".

The air quality in Sydney, as of December, had reached 11 times the "hazardous" level due to the smoke.

What's the cause of all this?

Every year Australia experiences a hot, dry season. As the earth's climate gets warmer, the likelihood of wildfires starting during this season increases.

As expected, the citizens of Australia have been reaching out on social media to raise awareness.

"Our Wildlife Hospital is busier than ever though, having officially treated over 90,000 patients," she wrote.

As per the photo Bindi is standing in front of, their family's animal hospital was built in dedication to her grandmother.

Evidently, the Irwin's have always been animal lovers!

"My parents dedicated our Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital to my beautiful grandmother," she went on.

"We will continue to honour her by being Wildlife Warriors and saving as many lives as we can."

Her post came not long after heartbreaking footage of kangaroos attempting to flee the bush fires went viral.

Although said kangaroos were rescued, the bottoms of their feet were badly burnt.

Experts foresee millions of more animals sadly not being able to be saved.

According to Daily Telegraph, Australia's animals are fighting to stay alive as the flames sweep through a large part of the nation.

Ecologists from the University of Sydney recently estimated that around 480 million animals have died because of the wildfires in the last three months alone.

It looks like the Australian wildlife is going to need the help of Bindi's family's organization more than ever before!
