Actress Alicia Silverstone has opened up about her fears in relation to the reboot of the beloved 1995 teen movie Clueless, which is currently in the works.

Back in 1995, Silverstone starred in the teen comedy as the iconic Cher Horowitz.
Today, the 48-year-old actress is working on a reboot series. She recently told Entertainment Tonight that she ‘never thought’ of doing a reboot of the movie but that she believes it can ‘honor’ the classic.
The actress is worried about messing up
“It’s very early stages,” Silverstone told the outlet.
“I’m obviously excited. I never thought that was something that I would ever do because I wouldn’t wanna mess up this thing that we all love so much,” she admitted.
Silverstone said the goal is to ‘honor’ the movie
The actress added, “We will do our very best to honor the original movie that we love and also bring something new to it. That’s the goal, and I believe we will execute that goal.”

It was announced in April
The series remake of Clueless was announced earlier in April of this year, with the actress writing on Instagram at the time, “Totally buggin’… in the best way.”
Silverstone is set to executive produce the series, along with Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, who created Gossip Girl and The O.C.
Fans are just as excited
Fans of the original 1995 flick seemed just as on the edge of their seats as Silverstone herself.
One fan wrote online at the time of the announcement, “I’m honestly excited. We’ve only had one movie and I’ve never seen Alicia in anything else. Get your bag queen.”
The story is based on a Jane Austen novel
Clueless (1995) is actually based on the Jane Austen novel Emma.
It follows the rich and popular high schooler Cher (played by Silverstone) who wants to help those around her, if in misguided ways. The plot details for the reboot have yet to be announced.
Silverstone misses playing Cher
Speaking with ET, Silverstone expressed her excitement for the reboot, saying, “I can’t wait to step back into Cher’s skin and her fancy designer shoes that will be gently used, of course, duh, because she’s evolved.”
“This is 2025, she’s not wearing the new stuff unless it’s sustainable or vegan. We’ll have to see how far we can go with that,” she added.
