A woman devastated by the loss of her mother was recently relieved, comforted, and amazed by a discovery she shared in a viral TikTok that made it hard not to believe there are no coincidences.
The world is full of bizarre happenstances that we never would have predicted, but some coincidences can seem almost eerie in how neatly they fit everything together. One case saw the stars align precisely enough for online well-wishers to see someone’s wallet returned to them , while another featured a woman just happening to take a picture of the man she would one day fall in love with .

And in these cases and the others like it we’ve seen, it seems that either life has a flair for foreshadowing or that it’s just waiting for the right moment to spring something incredible onto us.
However it happens, it never stops being amazing to see how some moments we once thought nothing of can blossom into some of the most important of our lives. And for one young woman, that coincidence meant so much for the memory of her mother.
On May 20, a woman named Leah Menzies uploaded a video to TikTok that featured her looking down at a photo album.
And as we can see here, it seems the fact that she lost her mother to liver failure at seven years old has been on her mind lately now that she’s become very close with her boyfriend.
But we can also see that she doesn’t appear to be feeling particularly melancholy. As we’ll soon learn, there’s a reason for this that she never knew about until she met her boyfriend’s family for the first time.
That evening, his mom was telling Menzies about a goofy face he made as a kid in a class picture.
And as the couple told Today, he wasn’t embarrassed by this and happily went to go find this photo , only to repeatedly say “oh my God” when he realized what he was looking at.
As Menzies put it in a follow-up video , “I was like, ‘Why are you being so dramatic?’ And then I looked, and I started crying.”
What she learned was that her mother had apparently met her boyfriend long before she did because she was his kindergarten teacher.
And while People reported that she had known her mom was a teacher, she never actually knew more than that about her job .
So even if this stunning family connection with the man she now loves didn’t exist, there would still have been a great deal of value in knowing more about her.
And while the boyfriend understandably doesn’t remember much about Menzies’ mother, his mom described her as being nice and gentle in their interactions.
And for Menzies, it’s already enough to know that they had crossed paths at all, since her video makes it clear that she had thought that never could’ve happened.
In her words, “It’s incredible that she knew him. What gets me is that she was standing with my future boyfriend and she had no idea.”
