Cast Away is a movie that seems like it came out forever ago, but yes, people are still bringing it up and talking about it.
After all, it is a classic! Plus, when you hear about the fact that the main character almost died while filming, it definitely gets people talking.
‘Cast Away’ is a classic film.

And the award for the most obvious statement on this website goes to… Jake Bean, come on down!
But seriously, it’s a great movie from start to finish. With many memorable lines (remember when Tom Hanks was screaming: “Wilson” over and over again?).
Most of its classic status can be attributed to Tom Hanks and his amazing acting.

He was mostly alone throughout the whole movie, so it’s safe to say he carried it.
Yes, Tom Hanks goes all out when he acts in movies. For example, did you know he almost died while making Cast Away ?
Years ago, he did an interview where he talked about the film…

And he told the BBC about his harrowing experience on set:
“[Cast Away] put me in the hospital. I was there for three days with something that, believe it or not, almost killed me.”
“I got an infection from a cut and it was eating its way through my leg. I didn’t know it, I just thought I had a sore.”

“I went to the doctor who took one look and said, ‘I have to put you in the hospital because we have to get this infection out of you before it poisons your blood and you die’.”
