I truly don’t even know what to say to start this article other than I wish you could watch as my eyeballs roll to the back of my head. Singer Grimes recently shared that she and billionaire BF Elon Musk welcomed their second child together, which is great.
However, in that same interview, Grimes said that Elon lives like they’re “below the poverty line” — so that’s fun!

Now, that’s give or take a few billion of course, but let’s just say it’s been recognized that Elon is by far the richest man in the entire world.
Now, if you think Elon and Grimes are living large, you’re wrong. According to Grimes, the Tesla co-founder lives like he’s “below the poverty line” these days.
“Bro does not live like a billionaire. …” she told Variety . “Bro lives at times below the poverty line.”
“To the point where I was like, ‘Can we not live in a very insecure $40,000 house? Where the neighbors, like, film us, and there’s no security, and I’m eating peanut butter for eight days in a row?'”
As you can imagine, this incredibly tone-deaf soundbite has made its way onto social media, and people are not impressed.
“grimes claiming to live below the poverty line in the same interview where the nanny her and elon hired to parent for them is audibly shushing her secret baby is uhhhh something,” tweeted one user.
“Love to fly my below-poverty-line private jet all over the country,” tweeted another.
Well, it’s clear to see why people weren’t impressed with this remark, and honestly, I don’t blame them.
