There are some people out there (also known as philistines) who prefer the Marvel universe’s version of Spider-Man, rather than the holy gift given to us by the gods that are the two Raimi films.
(We Orthodox Raimians acknowledge that the third film happened, but don’t consider it a holy gift).
One of those people is Tom Holland.
Which probably makes sense, considering he is the MCU’s Spider-Man, he’d probably like himself better than Toby Maguire.
Then again, did Vince Vaughn prefer himself over Anthony Perkins? They both played Norman Bates.
Recently, he did an interview with GQ, where he went undercover on the internet.
He was faced with this question on Quora:
Why is Tom Holland’s Spider-Man shown to be weaker, naive and foolish compared to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man?
And he replied with: “Because it makes me more interesting?”
He went on to say : “It gives me more room to grow. If you start out a badass, there’s nowhere to go. I don’t know.”
He’s got a point, I guess. You win this round, Holland.
