Bridgerton star Simone Ashley stunned in a sheer Valentino dress at the Time 100 Next Gala last month. The actress made her mark with the Netflix period drama earlier this year following a supporting role in the British series S*x Education.
Since then, Ashley has built a large following, impressed by the strong woman she played. The 27-year-old is aware of her influence and grateful for the opportunity to promote India with her talent.
Flower Power For Time
Besides her presence on-screen, Ashley has an amazing fashion sense that’s refreshingly different from the typical Hollywood style. She wore one of her unique Valentino pieces for the Time 100 Next Gala.
It was a colorful black sheer two-piece set with yellow and green appliques scattered around like a spring field. Ashley’s pants had an inner lining, although her top was see-through, leaving little to the imagination!
She paired this floral set with water curls worn down the center and made up in her signature n**e style. Ashley tagged her outfit Flower Power, and we couldn’t agree more.
‘Bridgerton’ Changed Her Life
Ashley covered next month’s issue of British Vogue as she discussed Fashion and TV – two niches she knows so well. She opened up about growing up as a dark-skinned Indian-British girl in a predominantly white all-girls school.
The actress said there was bullying, but she pushed through and became a voice for minorities in the movie industry. She credited Bridgerton for changing her life, as her co-stars warned. Following the show’s success and critics’ praise, Ashley became the IT girl of the year.
Accentuating Her Unique Features
Despite being “different,” Ashley refuses to let it limit her and takes pleasure in accentuating her features. Her 3.3 million Instagram followers would be the first to tell you the actress wears her curly long black hair effortlessly.
She thanked her makeup artist and hairstylist for working with her skin and hair to perfection and anticipates becoming a beauty mogul to help women who look like her.
Becoming A Force In Hollywood And The UK
Ashley is also a feminist and grew up challenging patriarchal values instilled in her traditional South Indian Tamil family. She did the opposite of society’s expectations of her as a girl and became a confident woman.
The actress left home as a teenager to pursue acting in Hollywood; the rest is history. You may not remember, but Ashley starred in Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and Straight Outta Compton, both in supporting roles.
