Having to strip down for an audience under any circumstance is, surely, a stressful situation that one may want to prepare themselves for. I know I would. Especially if you’re a famous movie star about to do it for millions of potential viewers on the big screen.
Robert Pattinson is opening up about how he prepares for shirtless scenes in his latest film The Batman , and it’s not as easy as you may think!
Robert Pattinson is getting real about how he prepared to go shirtless in his latest film, “The Batman”.

When the 35-year-old first began working on the movie, he confessed that he hadn’t been working out much.
While speaking with GQ back in a viral 2020 interview, the “Twilight” actor pointed out that actors who over-exercise for roles are “part of the problem.”

“I think if you’re working out all the time, you’re part of the problem,” he said . “You set a precedent.
“No one was doing this in the ’70s. Even James Dean—he wasn’t exactly ripped,” he continued.

He recalled being asked to do a shirtless scene in Twilight , but it sort of backfired when the directors saw what kind of shape he was in. “The one time they told me to take my shirt off, I think they told me to put it back on again,” he joked.
“Literally, I’m just barely doing anything,” he said when he was asked if he had committed to an intense workout regime for his new role as “The Batman”.

In 2016, he told People that he had gone on a diet to prepare for his film, The Lost City Of Z .
He revealed that leading up to the film, he had “literally eaten nothing.”

“I had literally eaten nothing for the entire time,” he said , adding that he was quite happy with the way he looked after they had finally wrapped up filming. He explained that skinny jeans were no longer off the table.
“I loved it afterwards, for like a week in London, where I have a 28-inch waist. I was like, ‘Ooh! Skinny jeans!'”

Since then, however, Pattinson has admittedly buckled down on the fitness front, and started working out “all the time” to prepare for his lead role in The Batman .
“I had about three months before the movie started, and then you’re working out before and after work all the time,” he recently told People.
He explained that as he continuously “cut down” on weight, he even began measuring his water intake leading up to shirtless scenes to avoid bloating.

“You just cut down and cut down and cut down before the couple of scenes with your shirt off, and you’re counting sips of water,” he said.
Pattinson admitted that his “biggest motivator” to finally get in shape for the film was shame after the reactions he received to the remarks he made in his 2020 GQ interview.
