Rob Lowe is no stranger to the spotlight. Over the course of his 40-year Hollywood career, the former Brat Pack member has literally seen and done it all. With such an illustrious career and a beautiful family, it’s hard to believe the actor almost didn’t see himself having a career this long.
In a new tell-all interview with ET, the 58-year-old got candid about the moment he thought his career was over.
I don’t think it’s dramatic to say Rob Lowe is literally one of the most beloved celebrities of all time.
From his time in the brat pack to Wayne’s World to his role as the loveable Chris Traeger on Parks and Recreation, Rob is an unstoppable force.
However, there could have been an alternate universe where many of these beloved projects failed to exist.
In a new, candid interview with ET’s Matt Cohen, the actor got personal about the moment he thought his career in Hollywood was over.
Recalling the early days of raising his family alongside his wife, Sheryl Burkoff, the “Parks and Rec” alum said: “One day I woke up and go, ‘I haven’t worked in two years.'”
“In fairness, I’d kind of taken my foot off the accelerator a little bit.”
He and Sheryl had welcomed their first son, Matthew, in 1993, and their second, John, in 1995.
After taking some time off to be with his young family, the St. Elmo Fire star returned to acting in 1999 with the West Wing .
Since then, Rob has had a show on TV every year — how cool is that?!
