As always, Brad Pitt is a freakin’ delight, serving us absolute perfection at all times. And now, he’s proven he’s also woke af.
An old clip of him from 2019 at a press conference in Tokyo, promoting his sci-fi hit, Ad Astra , realizing the importance of wearing a face mask recently resurfaced, and it could not be more relevant!
Wearing a mask in public places is more important now than ever.
I mean, we are quite literally in the midst of a global pandemic.
If ever there was a time to do everything in our power to prevent the spread of germs, it is right now!
And while there are still some folks out there that seem to think the courteous act of wearing a mask to prevent others from getting sick and possibly saving lives is somehow an attack on their human rights…
It is in fact, a scientifically proven method to decrease the spread of COVID-19.
According to the *World Health Organization*, wearing a mask in public spaces is “the most effective means to prevent inter-human transmission” of coronavirus.
It isn’t a sure-fire way to prevent transmission, but it is the most effective besides simply staying home and practicing social distancing.
“Researchers who reviewed 172 studies about the effectiveness of masks, eye protection and physical distancing in decreasing the spread of COVID-19 confirm what many health officials have already been saying: They work,” the study reads.
“It’s been confusing for a lot of people around mask use,” said Dr. David Harris, an infectious disease physician .
“From this review, we’ve found masking, or wearing any type of mask in the community does help … mitigate that risk of transmission in the community, as well as in health care settings.”
“When I see somebody wearing a mask, I feel happy that they’re wearing a mask because I know that they’re — if they have it over their face and they cough or sneeze — they’re protecting me,” he said .
Especially now that things have opened up and started going back to “normal”, it is the most critical time to wear a mask, people!
Just because businesses are open doesn’t mean coronavirus is no longer with us.
Stay safe!
ANYWAYS, an old clip of our fav man, Brad Pitt, from 2019 recently resurfaced, reminding us of the importance of masks.
Long before coronavirus came along and ruined our lives, masks were still an important garment in many high-populated areas.
In many Asian countries, face masks have always been popular during cold and flu season, pre-pandemic.

It was simply a considerate way to not recklessly spread one’s germs around in public spaces when they’re knowingly under-the-weather.
So, while Brad was visiting a press conference in Tokyo in 2019, promoting his sci-fi film, *Ad Astra*, he noticed that some locals were wearing face masks and decided to speak on it.
During a Q&A, he drew attention to someone in the back of the room wearing a mask.
He explained that initially, whenever he would see someone wearing a mask at an airport, he thought it was overkill.

He admitted that he thought it was an excessive precautionary measure.
But he quickly changed his cadence on the topic.
“I see someone in a face mask back there,” he says at the start of the clip.

“When I first came here and I saw all the people in the faces masks at the airport, I thought, ‘That’s a bit paranoid,’” he added , smiling.
He explained that upon further investigation, he realizes that wearing a mask is actually a very kind thing for someone to do.

If you’re knowingly sick, why wouldn’t you wear a mask instead of needlessly getting other people sick, right?
He added that he thinks the rest of the world should follow their lead, and start normalizing the use of face masks on a regular basis.

Ironically, that is exactly what has happened.
But instead of voluntarily, it has happened under some very unfortunate circumstances.
“And then I came to understand it’s when you have a cold and protecting others and I think that’s so considerate,” he said.

“And I don’t know why the rest of the world… I don’t know why we don’t do that .”
