It’s a court date that’s been decades in the making and people are justifiably interested.
If you’ve been living under a (blissfully ignorant) rock, here’s a refresher.

The musician has been charged with 10 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, with 4 victims whose assaults date as far back as 1998. Three of the victims were minors at the time.
If he’s convicted, he faces up to 70 years in prison.
The horrors of R. Kelly’s crimes were brought into the limelight again recently.
The documentary series Surviving R. Kelly aired in January 2019 and for a lot of people it was the first time they’d truly grappled with the enormity of what he’s accused of.
Of course, people have whispered about these things in the past.

As far back as 1994, when he married then-15-year-old singer Aaliyah, people noticed his affection for younger women. Since then, he’s faced several court cases, including for child p*********y.
Throughout it all, Kelly has denied the allegations and sat down for an interview with Gayle King to share his side.

At the time of this writing, only a few clips have been released, but people are already talking about how emotional and unhinged he seems to be. Through tears, he says “I’m fighting for my f*****g life!”
One of his accusers has already shared her opinion.

She says that she doesn’t think prison is what Kelly needs, but rather psychiatric help, since he truly seems to believe that he’s done no wrong.
I’m sure we’ll be seeing a ton of reactions once the whole thing is out.
The full interview is set to air March 6 and 8 on CBS This Morning , but you can check out a couple of clips below.
