While on his royal tour in Southern Africa, the Duke of Sussex made a stop in Angola to retrace his mother’s footsteps 22 years later at a former minefield site in Huambo.
As some of you may already know, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently on their royal tour of Southern Africa.
So, what better time for Harry to visit the same minefield that his mother walked through 22 years ago?
The royal family is always finding small ways to honor Princess Diana — similar to this one.
Let’s take a look back on some of the other times we’ve seen Diana honored by her family in the past.

A source recently revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decorated their son’s nursery with a small nod to Princess Diana.
Apparently , there is a photo of her near Archie’s crib, looking over him.

In a 2016 interview, Prince Harry said that making his mother proud is what gets him through each day.
“All I want to do is make my mother incredibly proud,” he said . “That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”
That same year, Prince William shed some light on what it’s like to lose a parent.
While visiting Keech Hospice in Luton, England, William met a boy that also lost his mother at a young age, so he gave him some thoughtful advice on handling grief.
“Time makes it easier. I know how you feel. I still miss my mother every day, and it’s 20 years after she died,” he said .
At her nephew, Archie Harrison’s christening, Kate Middleton gave a nod to Diana by wearing the exact same earrings she wore to Harry’s christening in 1984.
She looked absolutely stunning in them, as did Diana.
Meghan was also recently seen wearing a pair of Diana’s earrings.
During her’s and Harry’s royal tour in Australia, Meghan was seen wearing a pair of Diana’s butterfly earrings as well as her gold bracelet.
On her wedding day, Meghan also wore the same aquamarine colored ring that used to belong to Diana.
She wore it again later that year at a state dinner in Tonga .
Back in 1997, Princess Diana walked through a minefield site in Huambo wearing body armor, hoping to raise awareness.
Unfortunately, she passed away later that year and never had a chance to see the impact she made.
An international treaty was signed that year, outlawing that type of weaponry.
All thanks to Diana’s campaign, the area that was once a dangerous minefield has become a “bustling community”.
This week Harry retraced his mother’s steps, walking along a suburban street that was once an area filled with explosives.
He described his visit as “quite emotional”.
“To see the transformation that has taken place, from an unsafe and desolate place into a vibrant community of local businesses and colleges”.
“Without question, if she hadn’t campaigned the way that she did, this arguably could still be a minefield,” he continued .
“I’m incredibly proud of what she’s been able to do,” he went on.
He added that he’s glad to “meet these kids here who were born on this street.”
Harry was escorted through the area by British landmine clearance charity the Halo Trust — the same charity that accompanied Diana during her visit there.
