Former Cleveland Browns’ Running Back Peyton Hillis spent his early days of 2023 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after saving his kids from drowning. Hillis is most famous for his 2010 play with the Browns, where she scored 13 touchdowns covering over 1,600 yards, and the Madden 12 Game.
Saving His Children
Hillis reportedly dove into the ocean during a family trip when he saw his kids drowning. He succeeded in saving them but sustained serious injuries. Water rushed into his lungs and affected his liver, so a helicopter ambulance airlifted him to the ICU.
In Critical Condition But Responding Well
The 36-year-old’s uncle, Greg, released a statement and updates on Hillis’ health, saying he’s responding positively to treatment despite problems with his kidneys and lungs. Greg added that the family is grateful for the thoughts and prayers from fans nationwide.
Rise To Fame

After winning a fan-voted poll, the Running Back landed the 2010 Madden 12 game cover by popular demand. His impressive 2010 breakout and 2011 follow-up seasons ensured that he scored 13 and 3 touchdowns.
A Career Spanning Eight Seasons

Hillis started his career in 2008 playing for Arkansas before joining the NFL in the 7th-round draft. His career lasted eight seasons, spanning several top teams from the Cleveland Browns to the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (never appeared in a game), and New York Giants.
Early Retirement For Health Reasons

Despite his impressive breakout season, Hillis left the NFL in 2014. He revealed that a doctor advised him to retire early due to several concussions and heightened risk. Hillis then ventured into the entertainment industry and made his film debut in an indie movie, The Hunting.
Becoming An Actor
Switching careers came easy to Hillis as he said in 2015 that his heart was longer in football. The Hunting came out two years ago and starred Hillis as a detective, Connor Ryan, who gets involved in a werewolf saga when one of the supernatural beings attacks his small town.
His First Movie
The movie earned negative reviews from audiences, with one independent reviewer saying it’s badly flawed but watchable. Rotten Tomatoes didn’t review it, and IMDb gave the movie a 3/10. You can check out the trailer below.
