For those who love chicken—there is nothing as delicious and good as having a bucket of fried chicken with your family. Ordering a whole bucket with those mouth-watering sides to go with it. Yum!
If you were to ask anyone what the best part of chicken is, I can almost bet they all say one thing.
The skin. By far, the skin is the best part of any chicken dish. For fried chicken, the skin is flakey and flavorful. For rotisserie chicken, the skin has the juiciest flavor and spice.
However, it seems there are those who “didn’t know” you could eat the skin of the chicken.
Despite how popular fried chicken and other types of chicken with the skin on can be, it seems there are tons of people out there who had no idea you can enjoy and eat the skin of the chicken.
TikTok user Joy Opoku apparently had no idea you can eat the skin off of chicken.
The TikTok user shared a video on the social media app discussing her “discovery” of being able to eat the skin off of some fried chicken.
In the video, she showcases some fried chicken she got from Popeyes.
Joy said that she did “not know” you could eat the skin of the chicken and she would always take the skin off until her friend told her that it was okay to eat it all together.

If you’re going to get fried chicken from anywhere—Popeyes, KFC, etc.—we all know that the best part and the only reason to go there is for the fried chicken skin. If you don’t eat the skin, it’s just like any other boiled, plain chicken.
People online started dragging Joy for “lying” and faking.
Many people in the comments on the TikTok video wrote, “you’re joking,” and “she cannot be serious right now.” Other people said “I call cap,” saying that she was definitely faking it.
Joy began to also share some other food discoveries she’s made lately.
In another video, she shares that she found out that you can also eat the breading on fried shrimp. She said she thought you were “always” supposed to peel shrimp and not eat the outer shell, but for fried shrimp, it’s different.
She also said that the best way to eat a hotdog is to “peel the skin.”
She proceeds to take the entire casing off of the hot dog until it “looks naked.” Then, she puts it into a bun and takes a bite of the hotdog—from the middle of the bun. Nope. Totally inappropriate.
As it turns out, Joy was basically fibbing a bit.
In a follow-up video, she shared that the “chicken video” that helped her TikTok channel go viral was a bit phony. She claimed she was home from work and was trying to think of content that would help boost her views online.
Well, she certainly got our attention.
Along with 4.8 million TikTok users, people were enamored with the idea that someone would be missing out on delicious chicken for this long in life. I guess we just can’t fathom someone missing out on that!
