Pamela Anderson Shares The Unexpected Reason She Chose To Leave Hollywood

The former actress, 57, left Hollywood behind to move back home to Canada, where she now resides on Vancouver Island.

She opened up in a new interview about her journey with fame and her reasons for leaving it all behind.

In 1995, an infamous s*x tape featuring her and then-husband Tommy Lee was stolen and leaked.

Between the scandal and Lee being imprisoned for abuse allegations against her, Pamela was forced to have her private life play out in front of the public.

Nothing about her life has been private

With or without her consent, Pamela Anderson became a tabloid darling. The exploitation of her private life continued right up into 2022, when Hulu’s Pam & Tommy — a fictional miniseries centered around her first marriage and the s*x tape scandal — was made without her consultation or blessing.

During the pandemic, she decided to make a change

Anderson sat down with Better Homes & Gardens to discuss her big move from Malibu back home to British Columbia, Canada. She said she felt like her “whole life was a bundle of mistakes.”

She said she always longed to be a housewife

“I threw every dinner party and cooked all those meals for my family and my kids,” she said of her past. “It wasn’t what was seen publicly.” 

With that in mind, she moved back home to Canada and started fresh.

She was tired of the image the public had of her

Anderson had previously chosen to start going make-up-free, which greatly impacted her. “That was the beginning of me letting go of the image I had always had of myself.”

She’s been exploring that part of herself while in Canada

“As soon as I took the mask off, the whole world opened up,” she said.

As someone who also gave up on makeup during the pandemic and also lives in British Columbia, I can attest to how freeing is to care less about your appearance. I still love makeup, of course, but it’s no longer necessary to me in my daily life.

After that, she got comfortable not wearing makeup to events, too

While attending the 2023 Paris Fashion Week, she skipped spending three hours in a makeup chair and instead visited the Louvre, choosing to attend the event barefaced.

“I felt like this little freckle-faced kid with a big, beautiful Vivienne Westwood hat on,” she said of the event.
