Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are packing their bags and relocating from the Golden State.
The couple recently announced their plans to ditch their nest in LA and move somewhere where they would be required to pay fewer taxes. They may not be gone for good, however. The pair revealed that they may return in the future if the tax situation ever changes.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are leaving California.
The Black Sabbath frontman and The Talk personality are packing up their currently LA-based home and moving overseas, to where they are both from, the United Kingdom, in hopes of paying lower taxes.
According to Mirror, the federal tax rate has risen to 28% with an additional 13% state tax in California.
So in an attempt to protect his wealth, Osbourne is headed back to his homeland.
The Heavy Metal icon is reportedly worth upward of $220 million, and as of 2021, Sharon Osbourne’s net worth is also in the $220 million range.
Combined, the Osbournes share a more than $440 million net worth .
“We are leaving LA. We are a bit sad. But the tax is getting too much,” he said.
He admitted that leaving LA is not his first choice. He’s “sad” to be relocating from somewhere he’s enjoyed living for the last 20 years.
“I am sad because I really really like staying and living there,” he continued, adding that if the tax situation were to improve in California, he would like to return.
“If they do the taxes better then I may come back. I do not know,” he said.
The rest of his band is in full support of his move and they plan to follow suit so that they can continue to make music together in person.
Osbourne explained that he will be taking his music studio with him back to the UK so that he and his bandmates can continue, business as usual.
“I am going to build a barn there and make my own studio at Welders,” he said.
“I will still be making music and my band will come over,” he added.
“I am taking my recording studio with me,” the 73-year-old musician told Mirror.
He assured fans that they have no plans to stop making music anytime soon, and that his band will likely be spending a lot of time at his new home studio.
In October 2021, Black Sabbath’s drummer, Bill Ward, revealed that he and Ozzy had been in touch, planning a new album.
“I’m in contact with the guys. I talked to Ozzy two nights ago,” he told The Metro.
“My biggest contention has been ‘let’s make another album’,” he continued. “…I haven’t spoken to the guys about it, but I have talked to a couple of people in management about the possibility of making a recording.”
“Which I can do safely, even with Covid around. I can lay track at my studio in Los Angeles. I’m very open-minded about doing something like that. ”
