Taking to Instagram this month, the 42-year-old “Toxic” singer announced that she will not be dating men going forward, seemingly exhausted from her tumultuous divorce which was finalized just earlier this year.

After a whirlwind romance, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari called it quits on July 28 last year. The pair cited “irreconcilable differences,” with Sam filing for divorce in Los Angeles. It isn’t just the end of Britney and Sam — according to Britney, she has no interest in dating another man ever again.

The couple’s romance first kicked off in 2016 on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video. After getting Sam popped the question in September 2021, Britney revealed in May 2022 that the newly engaged couple had lost a pregnancy.

“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy,” the pair wrote in a joint post. “This is a devastating time for any parent. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however we were overly excited to share the good news.”
A long-awaited dreamy and star-studded LA wedding to remember
Britney and Sam finally tied the knot in June 2022. They exchanged vows in front of their friends and fellow A-listers. Things really seemed to be going well, but unfortunately, there was a plot twist looming just 14 months later.

By March 2023, rumors began circulating that Britney and Sam’s marriage was “on the rocks for months,” sources revealed to People. “There has been constant drama. It’s sad. A divorce would be devastating for Britney.”
Another insider added: “It’s been very toxic between them for a long time.”
The beginning of the end
Court documents later revealed the pair had split in July 2023, and that Sam had requested spousal support. One month later, Sam filed for divorce. He shared an emotional message with his Instagram followers the next day, writing, “AFTER 6 YEARS OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER MY WIFE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO END OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER,” he wrote. “WE WILL HOLD ONTO THE LOVE AND RESPECT WE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER AND I WISH HER THE BEST ALWAYS.”
Finalizing the divorce
In May 2024, Britney and Sam wrapped up their year-long divorce proceedings. It was officially over. “The divorce was amicable and the prenup was not challenged,” a source told People at the time, adding, “Britney is continuing to flex her freedom and is moving on.”

A permanent hiatus from men
Britney got extremely real with her followers earlier this month. The singer candidly admitted that she will be steering clear of men from here on out. In a since-deleted post, she wrote, “Single as f–k !!!
