Olivia Colman has shared the reason why she’s scared of filming intimate scenes in movies and TV shows.
She was talking about the job as a whole
The Crown actress was discussing her job in a recent appearance on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast.
Colman opened up about her view of intimate scenes after her co-star, Benedict Cumberbatch, asked what ‘scared’ her about the job the most.
She doesn’t like intimate scenes
In response to Cumberbatch’s question, the 51-year-old actress explained that any kind of sex scene leaves her feeling as though she was ‘being unfaithful’ to her husband, Ed Sinclair.
The two have been married for 24 years and share three children together.
Colman explained her discomfort
“Anything where I have to show any skin, I don’t like. Or pretending to have sex… I don’t like it. I feel like I’m being unfaithful,” The Roses actress said.
“Even when they go, ‘You can wear your jeans,’ or a cushion between you. I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to do that.”
The host weighed in on the conversation
Poechler weighed in on the topic, pointing out how those scenes can get rather awkward while filming.
To this, Colman replied, “No, absolutely not… Thank God for intimacy coordinators.”
Colman went on to praise Sinclaire
The actress also praised her husband, saying, “He’s my best friend and I fancy him, which is quite nice.”
“It is our 25th wedding anniversary next year. We aren’t big fighters, which apparently isn’t very healthy,” she added.
She and Cumberbatch are starring in a new movie
Colman and Cumberbatch are starring together in a new movie called The Roses, a 2025 adaptation of the 1989 movie, The War of the Roses.
It’s a dark comedy that tells the story of a couple whose marriage starts to fall apart.
They’re playing a seemingly perfect couple
The movie’s synopsis explains: “Life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Theo and Ivy: successful careers, great kids, an enviable sex life.”
“But underneath the facade of the perfect family is a tinderbox of competition and resentments that’s ignited when Theo’s professional dreams come crashing down.”
