Once upon a time, the now-King Charles III was merely a Prince.
While he was still required to follow royal protocol, he had much more freedom than, say, his late mother, the Queen. This is what prompted him to partake in different activities as a young chap, like dancing .
A video of him breakdancing in 1985 had been making the rounds on TikTok and, well, it’s fair to say that our King has the moves!
Last month, Prince Charles became King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

This followed the death of his dear, beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth II. She ruled for over 70 years before her death on September 8th at the age of 96.
After living in his mother’s shadow for so long, it’s only fair that the world gets to know King Charles III.

One fun fact is that he knows how to play the cello . He learned many instruments as a child — piano, trumpet, and cello.
Even though he has described himself as “hopeless,” he always stuck with the cello.

He played it in the Trinity College Orchestra during his undergrad. Another fun thing you should know about the King is that he’s quite the dancer .
This was proven when a video of him breakdancing in 1985 went viral.

The video shows Charles when he was 27 and on a visit to Middleton-on-Sea in West Sussex. He was taking part in a Youth Meets Industry course, which was organized by the then-Prince’s Trust.
It was created to help young, vulnerable people get back on track and find work.

During his time on the course, Charles got to know all 300 people. And they got to know him, even taking the time to show him how to breakdance.
At first, he tried to politely refuse, smiling as he said, “no, no, no.”

But then he actually had a go at it, which prompted many cheers from the crowd. While rap music played in the background, two guys showed him some moves and he tried to replicate them.
While, of course, some of the moves were awkward, he still did surprisingly pretty well for a royal whose dancing experience is likely restricted to the ballroom.

People on TikTok also very thoroughly enjoyed seeing the King break it down.
“He tried. Reminded me of Mr bean,” one user wrote.

It also felt like watching an old video of your dad trying to dance. “Dad dancing at its finest,” another added. “Good for him to get out there,” a third wrote.
It must’ve taken a lot of courage to do so, considering all eyes were on him.

We also wonder what the Queen thought at the time when she found out! “Omg This is [sic] amazing,” another response from a viewer read.
One person, however, wasn’t impressed. “Oh no! Please stop him NOW,” they wrote.

Ignore the haters, King Charles III! We loved the dance moves. He’s even passed down his “talents” to his son, Prince William. He was videotaped dancing while on his and Kate Middleton’s tour of the Caribbean.
“They were shaking their waists like nobody’s business,” a local organizer, Laura Cacho, said of the future King and Queen’s dancing at the country’s Garifuna community.
“[Prince William] shook his waist to the music. He had beautiful rhythm. It was a pleasure for me.”
