Move Over, David: Did You Know About Posh Spice’s Little-Known Electrician Ex-Fiancé?

David and Victoria Beckham are one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting couples and one of the most beloved. But, did you know Victoria was actually engaged once before? This relationship was before she even knew David.

Here’s what to know about her ex-fiancé.

David and Victoria celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary this year.

Back in July, the power couple celebrated this monumental anniversary. They shared breakfast together at a Michelin star restaurant in Notting Hill and posted about the occasion on their social media pages. 

They also wore purple outfits for the day, just like they did when they tied the knot all those years ago.

But Posh Spice almost tied the knot before.

Victoria was 25 and David was 24 when they got married. They had been together for around two years when they made things official with wedding rings and an expensive ceremony.

But, she was engaged years earlier when she was 20 to a man from her hometown.

He worked for her dad.

Victoria’s fiance at the time, Mark Wood, was an electrician who worked for her dad. Her father owned an electronics supply company in the ’90s, and Wood was employed to install anti-burglar alarms. 

When they got engaged, Victoria had auditioned for the Spice Girls, but she wasn’t famous.

They met when she was a teenager.

The first time the couple met, Victoria was going to St. Mary’s High in Cheshunt. They were both around 14 years old, so it was truly a case of young love. While they were living out their teenage dreams, David Beckham was already signed with Manchester United at the age of 16!

After high school, they lived together in a large home in Hertfordshire before getting engaged.

She even used his last name for a while.

While the pair never actually got married, Victoria used the last name “Wood” for a while. In fact, the name “Victoria Adams Wood” was the name she used on earlier merchandise and products for the Spice Girls.

Clearly, things were quite serious for them, and she thought she would marry him.

But they never made it to the altar.

Victoria and Mark were together for six years, from when they started dating at 14 years old to when they were 20. They didn’t get married, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. However, she doesn’t speak highly of him in interviews.

Luckily, things would work out for her later with David.

Victoria seems to regret the engagement.

In the early 2000s, ITV made a documentary about her life called Being Victoria. In that doc, she stated that, “For some reason, we got engaged. He was an alarm engineer. If only he’d stayed in the cupboard that I met him in at my mum’s house.”

Mark did not take this statement well.

In response, Mark Wood was included in a 2004 Channel 5 documentary, Victoria’s Secrets.

When interviewed for this documentary, he started sharing details of their s*x life, even commenting on how her body and implying she had received breast augmentation. He also said that she “went on like an express train.”

Victoria met a much better match for her after becoming part of the Spice Girls.

The Spice Girls began their rise to stardom in 1996. It was only a year later, in 1997, that Victoria and David met each other and started dating. They got married a year later, in 1998. 

Their oldest child, Brooklyn, was born a year after their wedding in 1999. Clearly, she found a much better relationship for her as the pair is still going strong!
