Sad news for fans of Modest Mouse musical band and music lovers at large, as drummer and co-founder Jeremiah Green surrendered to his brief battle with cancer on Saturday at 45.
Green co-founded the rock band with Isaac Brock, the lead singer and guitarist, and Eric Judy, the bassist, in 1992.

The drummer and co-founder was just recently diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, according to information from his mother, on the 25th of December. She requested prayers from followers following the reveal.

Apart from Namatame, a Seattle-based radio DJ, also shared the devastating news of his diagnosis, adding that while it’s a Stage 4 cancer, his prognosis is good and sends him healing energy.
His Mom Announced His Passing On Facebook
As she did for his diagnosis, Green’s mom announced his death on Facebook in an emotional statement.
The Family Is Requesting For Privacy
His mother described him as a light to many. She requested that the family be given privacy while promising to release information concerning his funeral, including a Celebration of Life for friends and fans in months to come.
Condolences From The Music Community
Tributes have been trickling following the news of Green’s death, mostly from his former bandmates.
“The great Jeremiah Green. My friend, bandmate, and the most creative musician I ever met,” wrote Johnny Marr, a former Modest Mouse guitarist.
“JG. I love you. Always. Forever.” commented Jim Fairchild on the band’s Instagram post.

The band kicked off their latest tour on November 18 in honor of The Lonesome Crowded West album and ended it on December 17. They were also set to launch another tour in 2023 for the new album The Golden Casket .
