The world is mourning the loss of music legend Quincy Jones, who passed away Sunday night at 91.
Known simply as “Q,” Jones was a force in the music industry for over seven decades, earning 28 Grammys and shaping the careers of countless artists, including the iconic Michael Jackson. Tributes from Hollywood and the music world poured in, honoring his profound legacy.
Quincy Jones’ family released a heartfelt statement, expressing their grief and pride.

Among those paying tribute was actor Michael Caine, a long-time friend who shared a unique connection with Jones.
“My Celestial twin Quincy was a titan in the musical world,” Caine wrote on X. The two, who both celebrated their birthdays on March 14, shared a bond Caine cherished deeply. “He was a wonderful and unique human being; lucky to have known him,” Caine reflected.
Colman Domingo, known for his role in the 2023 remake of The Color Purple, remembered meeting Jones with awe.
“I was so thrilled to meet Mr. American Music himself. I literally kneeled because he was a King,” Domingo shared on X, recalling Jones’ interest in his Philadelphia roots. He added, “Thank you, Mr. Quincy Jones, for giving us all the sound.”
LL Cool J, who considered Jones a father figure, shared his gratitude on Instagram.
“A father and example at a time when I truly needed a father and example,” he posted, describing Jones as a mentor and role model. “You gave me opportunities and shared wisdom. Music would not be music without you. My condolences to the entire family. I love you. Rest in the sweetest music eternally.”
Playwright Jeremy O Harris celebrated Jones’ impact on American culture and the boundaries he broke.
“What couldn’t he do?” Harris wrote on X. He praised Jones’ unprecedented achievements, from being the first Black person nominated for an Oscar in scoring to producing the biggest albums of the 20th century. “His contributions to American culture were limitless… RIP QUINCY.”
David Guetta, a renowned DJ and producer, shared memories of his own encounter with Jones.
“It’s hard to find the words to express the impact @QuincyDJones has had on me,” Guetta wrote. He recalled how Jones’ work on Thriller, his favorite album, set the bar for musical innovation, blending genres and pushing boundaries. “Thank you, Quincy, for all you’ve given us.”
Jones’ legacy, spanning from jazz roots to the heights of pop music, was revolutionary.
