ICYDK, Meghan Markle has a new Spotify podcast called Archetypes . It was on there that she recently detailed quite the scary experience she had during her royal tour of Africa, with Prince Harry and Archie back in 2019.
She was joined by Serena Williams, and while they were talking about motherhood, the story came up. Archie’s bedroom had caught fire.
Back in 2019, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle went to Africa, and it was there, that something horrifying happened.

She detailed the story on her podcast Archetypes with her friend Serena Williams. Archie’s nursery had caught fire.
“Archie was what, four and a half months old.”

“And the moment we landed, we had to drop him off at this housing unit that they had had us staying in,” People reported.
“He was going to get ready to go down for his nap.”
She continued:

“We immediately went to an official engagement in this township called Nyanga, and there was this moment where I’m standing on a tree stump and I’m giving this speech to women and girls, and we finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say, ‘There’s been a fire at the residence.’ What? ‘There’s been a fire in the baby’s room.’ What?”
Meghan said that thankfully, their nanny Lauren had made the decision to bring Archie downstairs with her instead of putting him down as she was supposed to, before the fire.

“She was supposed to put Archie down for his nap, and she just said, ‘You know what? Let me just go get a snack downstairs.’”
“And she was from Zimbabwe, and we loved that she would always tie him on her, her back with a mud cloth, and her instinct was like, ‘Let me just bring him with me before I put him down.’”

By the time that she had gone downstairs, the heater in Archie’s nursery had caught fire.
Meghan mentioned that there had been no smoke detector in the room.

Thankfully, someone had smelt the fire and had taken care of it before it could have gotten too out of hand.
“He was supposed to be sleeping in there.” she said.
Thank goodness everything turned out okay!
