Money, money, money.
It makes the world go round, doesn’t it?
Well, for Mayim Bialik, the The Big Bang Theory star says that money has caused her kids to feel “entitled.”
And she doesn’t quite know what to do about it.
Mayim Bialik’s parenting has been a source of controversy over the years.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that the Big Bang Theory actress is actually a neuroscientist in real life.
This means that she follows several scientific principles, including attachment parenting.
With this parenting style, she raises her kids by doing a lot of body closeness and being super empathetic.
She’s even published a book on the subject!
It’s called: “Beyond the Sling: A Real-Life Guide to Raising Confident, Loving Children the Attachment Parenting Way”.
She’s also been outspoken before about breastfeeding her children as long as possible.

Due to this, she breastfed her youngest son until he was four!
This decision has led to tons of controversy from people who don’t agree with the rather unusual parenting decision.
The actress even said that the criticism “made her cry.”
“The way that I parent is the way thousands of women parent all over the world, but I get flak for it.”
“People say really mean things!” she said .
Another controversial parenting tactic Bialik uses is raising her sons vegan.
Since she gets so many questions about it, the actress — who’s vegan herself — even created a YouTube video to answer everyone’s questions.
She began by debunking popular beliefs by stating that yes, her kids can live and that they get enough protein.
“Children can thrive without eating meat and without eating dairy. The only thing that vegans can’t get from the foods that we eat is vitamin B12.”
She solves that issue by giving them vitamins.
She’s not the first celeb to raise her kids vegan, either.
Environmental enthusiast Alicia Silverstone is raising her eight-year-old son vegan.
She’s even said that it’s helped their relationship over the years!
“I’ve never had to raise my voice to Bear,” the “Kind Diet” author said.
“I can just say ‘no, thank you’ and we respect each other and listen to each other,” she said .
“So much of that is because he’s not … a lot of it is the parenting, but a lot of it is the food. When your kid feels good, they act well.”
With this, she faces a tough dilemma since she says she can’t lie to her kids that they don’t have money.
“The fact that they grow up in the environment that they do, we have more than one bathroom, which I didn’t have as a kid,” she said.
“While I don’t always give in to my kid’s desires and I tend to be pretty strict as a parent, they have this knowledge that I care what they think. I mean, imagine that.”
“They just talk and talk and talk, and I just listen. This includes where they want to go to dinner, what they want on the radio, and so on.”
Now, the “Big Bang Theory” star is speaking out again about her parenting.
This time in an eye-opening YouTube video, titled “Why Are My Kids So Entitled”.
One thing she does do, though, is set “baseline boundaries.”
This means not saying yes to most things (her kids think she is the meanest mommy in town).
Another factor that she believes has contributed to her children’s sense of entitlement is the internet.
When pondering whether she has a solution to the entitlement issue, Bialik laughs and says, “I don’t know. Figuring it out as I go, like most of us.”
She began by saying that “there’s a certain swagger to them that I never had.”
“They seem to think that if they want something, that means they should get it.”
This includes food, toys or “not having to do chores.”
Her kids even believe that they are entitled to “relaxation time.”
“It’s called being a child, it’s all relaxation time,” Bialik said with a smile.
Um, can we get some of that relaxation time, too?
She went on to compare how parenting is different now than when she was a kid.
“I don’t say things to them like ‘because I said so,’ or ‘I’ll give you something to cry about'” when her kids don’t get their way.
“They know that we have money. So I believe that that is part of it. Money has contributed to their sense of entitlement.”
While her parents had things their way growing up, Bialik cares more about what her kids want.
She then began questioning where this sense of entitlement comes from.
Answer?
MONEY.
“I have money to spend on the things that my boys want,” she said, stating that she grew up without a silver spoon in her mouth.
“So, they never hear the phrase that I so often heard when I was a kid: ‘because we don’t have the money,” she exclaimed.
She’ll rely on birthdays and holidays to buy more expensive gifts.
And finally, the actress lets her kids know that while their opinions are valid, she can’t bow down to everything that they say.
She also educates them on what “white privilege” is and “keeps their entitlement in check” by making them aware of the economic issues facing the world.
She’s one smart mommy!
