Earlier this year, billionaire Mark Cuban opened a digital store that listed tons of medications for sale at a fraction of what regular retail pharmacies charge, a revolutionary move when it comes to affordable healthcare.
People have been loving it so far, and Cuban has been grateful for how much people are promoting it, promising that it’s only going to grow from here.
In January 2022, Mark Cuban launched an online pharmacy.
Called Cost Plus Drugs , the billionaire created a massive storefront that listed hundreds of generic brand medications for affordable prices, allowing Americans across the country to access the medications they need for a fraction of the price.
It’s been a massive success so far.
Some drugs are listed with discounts in the hundreds, sometimes even thousands of dollars compared to the name-brand version.
In fact, a recent report in the Annals of Internal Medicine claimed that Medicare could save $3.6 billion annually if they purchased drugs through Cuban’s company.
How do they swing these prices?
It’s due to the fact that they’re registered as a pharmaceutical wholesaler, which means it doesn’t get hit with “outrageous markups” as Cuban put it.
They also don’t spend any money on advertising, relying solely on work of mouth as the founder tweeted above.
Cuban’s been receiving quite the bout of praise.
People have flocked to social media, sharing stories of how they can now afford the medication that used to bleed them dry monetarily thanks to Cuban’s website. Take the person above for example, whose Lamotrigine Extended Release is only $31.80 now, down from a whopping $1180.80.
And it’s only going to get better.
Cuban has said that he plans on adding over 1000 more medications to Cost Drugs Plus over the next year, wanting to cover as many as he can.
It’s refreshing to see someone with the financial resources to help people actually do so for a change, cheers to Mark Cuban and all that he’s doing!
