A heartwarming mother daughter moment unfolded at Wimbledon earlier this week as the Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte received a standing ovation from fans. From a lip reader’s insights to royal interactions with tennis stars, here’s a look at their special day:
A royal mother-daughter arrival
The Princess of Wales, 42, and her daughter, Princess Charlotte, 9, made their entrance at the Wimbledon final on Saturday in London. As they arrived at the Royal Box suite on Centre Court, they received a standing ovation and applause from the crowd. Talk about a grand entrance!

Make it a family affair
Joined by Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, the trio watched the match between reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz and veteran Novak Djokovic. The mother-daughter duo, and aunt Pippa, enjoyed the excitement of the game as Alcaraz clinched victory in three sets. While seeing Kate, Charlotte and Pippa together was a sight for sore eyes, a lip reader’s interpretation of their conversation is even better.

Lip reader spills the tea
Lip reader Jeremy Freeman, shared his insights with The Sun. He analyzed the moment Kate and Charlotte arrived and revealed that the Princess of Wales told her daughter to “come over here” as they approached their seats — a phrase most moms know all too well, I fear! Freeman also pointed out that Charlotte seemed a bit confused after she and Kate reached their seats. But Kate, ever the attentive mother, made sure everything went smoothly, with Pippa following just behind them.

Before taking to their seats, Kate and Charlotte met with some of the female tennis who gifted the royals a bouquet of flowers
21-year-old tennis player Emma Radacanu presented Kate with the flowers. “It was so hard to see you go out,” Kate said to Radacanu, according to the lip reader. Emma replied, saying it was “amazing” to have Kate’s support and that she was glad to “see her here looking so healthy and happy.”

Charlotte began making pinky promises
While she and Kate made their rounds greeting the athletes and spectators, Charlotte was spotted making a pinky promise with Lucy Shuker that she would try playing tennis with her mom someday. The mother-daughter pair also stopped to greet a few other players, including Sonay Kartal, Lily Miyazaki, and Flora Johnson.

Tennis runs in the family
It looks like Charlotte won’t have any problems keeping her pinky promise! The lip reader clocked Kate telling some of the players that she and Charlotte had already been “practicing yesterday” and that it’s a great sport for “youngsters.”
“As a family, we play a lot,” she added.

Sweet nothings from Kate and presenting the Wimbledon trophy
As Kate greeted some of the nearby spectators with a warm and welcoming “Hi,” she turned to Wimbledon chairwoman Debbie Jevans and said, “So sweet.” Not long after, the Princess of Whales presented the Wimbledon trophy to Carlos Alcaraz, marking his second consecutive Grand Slam win.

Kate introduced Charlotte to Alcaraz
Backstage, Kate introduced Charlotte to Carlos, proudly telling him, “This is Charlotte, she was cheering you on. You had everything crossed.” Charlotte, a bit star-struck, shyly smiled as she stood next to her mom. “Nice to meet you,” Carlos replied, before Kate added: “We’ve watched a lot on telly, so it’s great to finally get to meet you.”

It was a successful mother-daughter day, to say the least

The royal mother and daughter look like they had an incredible and inspiring day at the Wimbledon finals. And considering the solum pinky swear made by Charlotte, we could be seeing her compete at Wimbledon someday in the future.
