Over the past decade, Candace Cameron Bur e has become one of the most visible and recognizable stars in the history of the Hallmark channel — appearing in more than 20 feature films.
In the wake of Hallmark announcing its first-ever same-s*x couple Christmas movie, Cameron made a controversial move to the Great American Family network. Now, her former friend and colleague, Lacey Chabert, is weighing in with her own thoughts on the matter.

After having appeared in more than 20 Hallmark feature films, Cameron has left the renowned holiday network in order to sign with the Great American Family channel. According to an interview Cameron did with The Wall Street Journal , she cited “The change of leadership” as an underlying factor in her decision, claiming that Hallmark had become ” A completely different network than when I started .”
Cameron Went On To Talk About How GAF Aligned With Her Beliefs About Keeping “Traditional Marriage” At The Core Of Its Storytelling.
Cameron’s comment on “traditional marriage” came shortly after Hallmark announced its plan to produce the network’s first-ever Christmas movie that revolved around the lives and inner workings of a same-s*x couple. Her comments were met with a barrage of backlash and criticism by fans and colleagues alike — including Hallmark’s undisputed queen of Christmas, Lacey Chabert.
Over The Course Of Her Hallmark Tenure, Lacey Has Starred In 35 Different Features.
While speaking with Vulture , Lacey explained how Hallmark today felt more like home than ever before. “I’m able to be more of who I am here than possibly anywhere else I’ve worked,” she said.
When Lacey was asked to voice her opinions on the shift in Hallmark’s culture, she stated emphatically how she felt that it was all for the best and that she welcomed any and all changes geared toward bolstering creative ideas.
“And It’s My Responsibility To The Audience Who Continue To Tune Into My Movies That I Give The Best I Have To Offer,” Lacey stated.
Lacey was quick to point out that for her, Hallmark was always centered around the heart. And so long as that stayed the same, she planned on spending many more happy years in partnership with the network.
When Lacey was asked if GAF had made any attempt to woo her, she replied, ” I’m with Hallmark , and I work for them. I’m so sorry, but I’ll just have to leave it at that.”
