A few years ago now, the world got to witness a battle of the Kylies as Kylie Jenner tried to trademark her first name , only to have the Australian pop star behind 2009 hit song ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ Kylie Minogue stop that in its tracks.
Today, Minogue has reflected on the legal battle a few times, assuring everyone it was nothing personal, but nothing she could let slide either.

Kylie Minogue kinda made history in 2017.
She went up against Kylie Jenner in a legal battle to stop the young influencer from trademarking their shared first name.
The story began in 2015 when Jenner first applied to trademark “KYLIE” for ‘advertising’ and ‘endorsement services’.
When Minogue heard about it, she immediately disapproved.
She got a legal team together and filed an opposing suit with the argument that Jenner trademarking the name would cause ‘confusion’, and potentially risk Minogue’s own brand as she often went by just her first name.
It took over a year, but Minogue did come out victorious.
Jenner’s trademark application was rejected in 2017 thanks to Minogue’s efforts, and this has all been something that Jenner’s never really spoken about since.
Minogue has, though, saying in a 2018 Rolling Stone interview that the lawsuit was “nothing personal”. “I’ve never met Kylie Jenner. I’ve never met any member of the family — actually, I’ve met Kendall just in passing at a fashion event — but I honestly don’t know them.”
She’s spoken up about it again recently.
She was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and told him that the lawsuit was “just business”.
“When I was named Kylie, I think I met one person older than me called Kylie, so it’s kind of unusual,” She answered when an audience member asked about the ordeal, “I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand so it was just something that had to be done.”
She then got a little cheeky.
“Let me also say we came to an agreement,” she said with a small smile, suggesting things were ‘settled’ between the two of them.
Cohen then asked if Minogue ever got to meet Kris Jenner, to which Minogue said no, but she’d “love to meet” the rest of the family.
So, while it was tense at the time, it seems to have come to an amicable end.
While we can’t be sure from Jenner’s side, we at least know Minogue has no hard feelings over the matter and saw it more as a moral necessity than a personal dig at Jenner herself. Something tells me Kylie Jenner has been just fine even though she lost the countersuit, and will continue to be successful despite it such a devastating loss.
