Monday’s Met Gala was the biggest fashion event of the year and celebs seriously brought their A-game .
The Kardashians and Jenners all looked stunning as usual, but fans thought that Kim stole the show with her shockingly hourglass-shaped figure.
For this year’s Met Gala, Kim Kardashian wore a bodycon dress designed by Thierry Mugler.

The look was supposedly inspired by Sophia Loren in the 1957 film Boy on a Dolphin .
She really nailed the wet look — with crystals dripping off of her entire dress, and her fingernails.
While her look was stunning, fans could not get over the size of her waist.
The majority of fans were straight-up confused at how the size of her waist is even possible.
Some fans joked that Kim didn’t even bring her waist to the Met Gala — she left it at home.
People really couldn’t figure out how all of her essential organs could fit into her tiny waist.
This person dragged Kim for setting unrealistic body expectations — calling her “irresponsible”.
They tweeted that Kim’s body looked unhealthy and disfigured, demanding that she “be better” to her younger, impressionable fans.
Another fan pointed out that the way Kim’s figure looked at the Met Gala is the precise reason that girls are so self-conscious of their own bodies.
They also brought up that Kim’s waist seems to be getting smaller and smaller every year.
Some fans compared Kim’s proportions to that of a Barbie doll — extremely unrealistic.
This person actually tweeted that her body is scary and wildly unhealthy looking.
This person ranted that no matter what kind of diet Kim is on, plant-based or otherwise, that is not how she achieved her petite hourglass figure.
They went on, insinuating that the only way Kim got her body to look like this is through surgical enhancement.
Some fans joked that Kim probably has ribs and organs surgically removed from her body every year in order to look like this.

They posted this along with a few throwback photos of Kim as evidence of her alleged yearly transformation.
This fan took to Twitter wanting to know what happened to Kim’s waist.

They explained that they are a major Kim K fan, but that they are very confused about the state of her waist.
Let’s take a look at what Kim has looked like at the same event in previous years. Here’s she is at the 2016 Met Gala:

As you can probably tell, her waist is substantially different looking in this photo than what we’ve seen of her this year. She had also given birth a few months prior.
Here she is at the 2017 Met Gala:

One year later, she seemed to have lost some weight overall. She looks stunning, healthy, and not necessarily unrealistic by most standards.
And here she is at last year’s Met Gala:

Her waist is still looking slim, but no more or less than the previous year. She absolutely slayed in this all-gold look — you might even call it iconic .
But after the flood of criticisms over Kim’s body came pouring in after this year’s Met Gala, Kim’s trainer came to her defense.

She took a screen-shot of Kim’s Met Gala look and posted it to her Instagram story along with a caption, assuring fans that Kim has earned her hourglass figure through hard work and dedication.
She made sure to clear the air and put all the haters in their place.

She explained that although the dress is corseted, Kim does put in the hard work, working out six days a week.
Although Kim’s trainer came to her rescue and let fans know that her dress was corseted, some people are still not buying it — based on the dress she wore later that evening, which revealed the front of her abdomen corset-less.

Kim re-posted her trainers Instagram story to her own — spreading the word.
Vogue also shared a video of Kim fitting into the corset before the Met Gala.
Still, not everybody is convinced that Kim’s body is au-naturale with or without a corset.
