Kim Kardashian has become an institution. She’s a global social media influencer known all the world over and is easily one of the most famous people currently walking the planet.
Recently, Kim received backlash over her comments regarding working women . Now, she’s looking to amend her statement by explaining that the entire ordeal was misconstrued, and taken out of context .
There’s no denying that Kim Kardashian is one of the most famous women alive.

Kim Kardashian has helped to redefine the world of reality television. She’s a business mogul, a social justice advocate , as well as one of the most powerful social media influencers on the planet.
Recently, the Skims founder got herself into some hot water after a polarizing interview with ‘Variety’.
When asked to give her best advice to women in business, Kim replied by saying “I have the best advice for women and business: get your [expletive] ass up and work .”
“It seems like nobody wants to work these days,” Kim continued. “You have to surround yourself with people that want to work.”

Kim’s original comments were met with a backlash of negativity. Many people felt that she failed to recognize her own privilege and the role it played in getting her where she is today.
Earlier this week, Kim sat down with ‘Good Morning America”s Robin Roberts in order to clarify her statement.
“That statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, and it became a sound bite really with no context ,” Kim explained.
Kim went on to say that her comments regarding women in business came on the heels of being told that she was simply “famous for being famous.”

“And my whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about what advice would you give to women ,” Kim said.
She made the point that having a strong social media presence and a reality TV show doesn’t guarantee overnight success.

Like everything else in life, Kim argues that you have to work incredibly hard to get where you want to be — even though it might look easy to someone on the outside looking in.
“It wasn’t a blanket statement towards women, or to feel like I don’t respect the work or think that they don’t work hard,” Kim assured Roberts.

“I know that they do. It was taken out of context, but I’m really sorry if it was received that way .”
So far, the response to Kim’s amended statement has been a bit of a mixed bag.
Many people seemed to echo Kim’s original comments, stating that they too believe that laziness is the biggest hurdle that would-be entrepreneurs have to overcome.
While others still seem to think that Kim is tone-deaf and missing the whole point.
Many people continue to point out that Kim has and will always have a safety net. Her pursuits are born out of passion as opposed to necessity, and because of this — she will never fully understand what it is to struggle.
While that may be true, it’s impossible to argue that Kim Kardashian isn’t a hard worker.

Her company Skims told Bloomberg that it plans to exceed $400 million in revenue this year — up from $275 million the year prior.
Kim also dreams of one day opening her own non-profit law firm.

Kim has been working tirelessly in the board room and in the courtroom to carve out a legacy that’s all her own. Maybe it’s time we give her a break and start paying her the respect she deserves.
