Our girl Khloe has been through a lot over the last year — between being a new mom, the first cheating scandal, dealing with the second cheating scandal that hit even closer to home, her breakup from Tristan Thompson, and all the backlash and public ridicule that went along with it.
But unfortunately, after a recent Instagram post she made, the drama continues.
If you’re a bit unclear on Khloe’s recent hardships, here’s what happened:
In February, Khloé split from Tristan Thompson, the father of their child, after allegations surfaced that he was cheating on her again , but this time with their close family-friend, Jordyn Woods.
Although Jordyn confessed to Tristan kissing her on the lips, she denied any further intimacy between them during her interview with Jada Pinkett Smith.
Either way, this wasn’t something that Khloé wanted to hear. It resulted in Jordyn being exiled from the family and Khloé ending her relationship with Tristan.
Since the drama came to a boiling point, Khloé has been doing what many social media users do during a breakup: Posting motivational quotes.
We’re assuming that the quotes and memes she has been putting in her story directly relate to what she is currently going through.
Most of the quotes she posted were positive, and applicable to almost anyone.
Everything was going smoothly until she posted a quote that didn’t sit right with everyone.
When she posted a quote called “Love Thy Neighbor”, people did not seem impressed.
It simply listed off groups of people, trying to inspire love instead of hate.
But fans noticed one line in the quote that they couldn’t get on board with.
Fans screenshot Khloe’s story and spread it all over Twitter and Instagram.
It didn’t take long for her post to go completely viral and spark huge amounts of public outrage.
The main point that concerned people was that Khloe was encouraging us to love “thy racist neighbor,” when her daughter is black.
Khloé’s daughter, True, has been a victim of racism by trolls commenting on the color of her skin on social media.
So, fans were very confused at Khloé’s recent stance, all things considered.
Another person tweeted that Khloe’s child is black, and we should “throw” Khloe “away” for posting this.
This is definitely a bit harsh. But as I said, people were outraged and felt the need to stand up for Khloé’s daughter.
This person pointed out that Khloé couldn’t forgive Jordyn Woods, her longtime family friend, for kissing her boyfriend — but is now asking the world to love their racist neighbors.
Insinuating that Khloé is advocating for something that she isn’t exercising herself.
Some pointed out that Khloé and her sisters have been accused of appropriating black culture on numerous occasions.
In the past, the entire Kar-Jenner clan has been accused of appropriating black culture and profiting off of it .
Another pointed out that Khloe just told them to love their homeless neighbor and their racist neighbor in one post.
Then continued to enforce that this really isn’t Khloé’s year.
On the other hand, many fans came to Khloe’s rescue, defended her, and tried to better explain the quote.
The fan went on to recite a famous bible verse, to back-up Khloé’s original post.
One fan pointed out that all Khloe was trying to was advocate for love — even if that means showing love to people we think may not exactly deserve it.
“Hate does not drive out hate, love does,” they tweeted.
Another fan pointed out that not showing kindness to someone who is racist only reinforces their preconceived opinions.
They went on to explain that instead of combatting hatred with hatred, we should try to change their minds by showing love.
Khloe has yet to publicly address the controversy.
Do you think the image of the t-shirt she posted had positive intentions but was misunderstood? Or was it just downright inappropriate?
