A mother is a daughter’s best friend and protector.
Katie Holmes, 45, slammed down rumors about her daughter, Suri, 18. She called out a headline from one of the outlets that said: “Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise’s trust fund has ‘kicked in,’ and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too.”
Holmes rushed to set the record straight and shield her daughter from unwanted attention.
Holmes shuts down the false reports

Suri, who is also Tom Cruise’s daughter, had a false report on December 5 about her being a millionaire. On December 8, Holmes took a screenshot of the headline and wrote, “Completely false.”
In addition, she wrote in the caption, “Enough,” to the publication that spread the false report.
The comments Holmes received

Loads of people supported her actions, trying to protect her daughter from the gnawing claws of the media.
However, some people criticized the Dawson’s Creek alum, with one of them saying: “I wish these were my problems…. A story in a rag media outlet, when there are moms in parts of this world who hope their daughters just survive the day. So Just perspective.”
Holmes’ surprising response

The Batman Begins star and concerned mother calmly replied to the user’s comment. She wrote, “But in the world today, I don’t want a target on my child’s back. It’s dangerous.”
Holmes and Tom Cruise’s relationship

Tom Cruise openly talked about his love for Holmes in 2005 with Oprah Winfrey and MTV News.
Tom proposed atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, just within eight weeks of their first date together. They lavishly married in 2006 at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy.
Too good to be true

Unfortunately, the couple divorced in 2012, settling the proceedings relatively quickly. Ever since Suri’s birth in 2006, she was no stranger to the cameras.
After the divorce, Holmes started shielding her daughter from the cameras.
More about Suri

Suri was born on April 18, 2006, seven months before her parents’ wedding. Holmes shared with Vanity Fair that Suri was “a glorious girl,” and “She’s the miracle of our life.”
Tom also talked about how they stumbled upon her name in a baby book and that the name meant “red rose.”
Holmes was the primary caregiver for Suri

After the divorce, it was settled that Suri would primarily live with her mother, Holmes.
Since then, Holmes’ focus has been to provide her daughter with a normal life, sending her to school and gymnastics like any mother would.
She tried to keep Suri at bay

Holmes tried to shield Suri from the paparazzi, but they never gave up. They’d be seen in sporting events and caught on Broadway, catching a show there.
As best as she could, Holmes rarely shared about her daughter on social media.
Suri made some appearances

Suri sang a cover of “Blue Moon” for Katie’s movie, Alone Together, which she wrote and directed during the pandemic. Suri can also be heard in her movie, Rare Objects. Holmes really enjoyed having her daughter around during work and wishes to have her there more.
A mother’s undying love

Holmes said this about her daughter to Glamour in 2023: “What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her.”
She continued, saying: “I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.”
