Okay, so here’s how all these people connect.
Kaitlynn and Brody Jenner (yes, that Jenner : he’s the Kardashian-Jenner family’s half brother via Caitlyn) met at a party in 2013.
“I was going after her,” Jenner told People . “She’s an amazing girl.”
Kaitlynn and Brody immediately started dating.
By 2014, they were a couple. By 2016, they were living together.
Brody proposed in May of 2016 at the Nihi Sumba resort in Indonesia. That same resort would be the site of their wedding in 2018.
They wed in 2018…and split in 2019.
They wed at the same resort in Indonesia in June 2018.
After a year of marriage — which they documented on The Hills: New Beginnings — they announced their separation. That was in August.
Also in August: Miley and Liam quietly separated.
Though news hadn’t broken at the time, Miley and Liam called it off sometime in June, according to a source.
They too had only been married for a short time — seven months.
Apparently, the two couples were friends.
That’s according to Kaitlynn and Brody’s Hills costar, Ashley Wahler.
“[Kaitlynn] and Miley and Liam and Brody would always hang out together, so I know they’ve been friends for a long time. They’ve been friends for a really long time, I will say.”
That would explain how Kaitlynn and Miley started dating.
They were already friends, after all.
Before news broke that Miley and Liam had separated, Miley and Kaitlynn were caught kissing while on vacation in Italy. The internet went absolutely wild .
They were a couple for a quick minute there.
They dated for a little over a month before calling it quits in late September.
Miley immediately moved on with a new partner — Cody Simpson, who she recorded the now-infamous “you don’t have to be gay” Instagram Live with.
Miley hasn’t been shy in discussing her past relationships.
She didn’t hold back when discussing Liam on that same Instagram, implying that she thought all men (assumedly including Liam_) were evil.
She made a special exception for her new boyfriend, though.
Elsewhere on Instagram, Kaitlynn was minding her business.
Up until now, she kept pretty quiet about her split from Miley. Instead, she took to posting casual snaps on Instagram, ignoring the tornado of press circling her.
That changed when she posted this picture.
One fan was disturbed at how Kaitlynn looked.
“Oh kaitlyn u look too thin r u ok you are so beautiful hope all is ok it was nice seeing you healthy for a bit modeling it was normal it seems like the new norm is being shown as super thin is only exceptional,” @lford43 wrote on Instagram.
Yeah, so I’m pretty sure the gist of that is, “hey, you’re looking a little thin, are you okay?”.
Kaitlynn actually responded.
“@lford43 I mean I been through some [expletive] lately LOL,” she replied.
A divorce, a whirlwind romance with Miley Cyrus, a breakup, and now constant scrutiny to how she’s feeling about Miley’s new boyfriend? Yeah, I’d say she’s been through it.
Kaitlynn didn’t seem too bothered with the comment.
Or the attention it brought. She kept right on posting, giving photos cute captions and uploading pics to her Instagram story of her trying Vietnamese food for the first time.
Meanwhile, Miley and Cody are continuing to make headlines.
Miley is still facing massive backlash over her comments about being gay, but it doesn’t look like she’s too bothered by it.
She posted a selfie in which her nipples were visible, got a new tattoo, and generally went on with her life.
Cody got caught shading Liam in an interview.
While talking to the Kyle and Jackie O Show , Cody opened up about his relationship with Miley.
“I’m very, very, very romantic. I don’t think she…she’d talked about how she hadn’t had that kind of an experience in a relationship before.”
Tough break, Liam.
And as for Liam?
Well, he doesn’t give af. According to a source, Liam “doesn’t have a reaction or plan on engaging with Miley.”
Not only that, but, “[He] has moved on.”
Yeah, I think Liam may have won this breakup.
