John Travolta is celebrating his latest achievement in aviation!
For those of you that did not already know, the famous Grease star has another significant passion outside of his acting career: flying planes. He recently took to Instagram to candidly share the news that he had just received a license to pilot a 737 plane.
John Travolta has a seriously impressive hobby.

While we may know him best for his acting career, the 68-year-old Pulp Fiction star has another passion, flying airplanes. ICYMI, he’s been a pilot for years!
Travolta began aviation lessons when he was just 15-years-old.

By the age of 22, he was fully licensed to take to the sky, and he certainly has been!
In a post marking National Aviation Day, Travolta opened up about his love of flying.
“I have loved aviation for all my life. There is no feeling in the world quite like flying an airplane,” he wrote.
Back in 2018, his late wife Kelly Preston told The Telegraph that the pair used to “travel all the time” by way of Travolta’s planes.

“He has had his license for almost 30 years,” she said at the time.
“At our house in Ocala, northern Florida, we have the planes parked out front because we have a runway attached,” she continued.

She explained that while her husband is piloting, she knew she was in good hands.
“I never get nervous when John’s piloting because he is calm in any situation and can handle the pressure,” she shared.

She added a few places that he had previously flown them to.
“He’s flown us all over the world – Russia, South Africa, Australia, Tahiti, the UK, the US and the Far East,” Preston said.

In 2020, Travolta took to Instagram twice, shedding light on his “second career.”
He first shared a throwback photo of himself at 15-years-old, with a caption elaborating on the first aviation class he was ever offered.

“Throwback Thursday: When I was 15-years-old, my school offered an aviation class which started my second career,” he captioned the old photo of himself.
He later shared a video of himself piloting his own private plane.

“It’s always exciting to get back in the air again so here I am celebrating,” he said in the short clip before adding, “Yeehaw!” showing his followers the plane’s cockpit.
Travolta’s children, Ella Bleu and Benjamin, also frequently accompany their dad on flights.

A video titled “Midnight Flight” shared on Instagram and filmed by Ella shows her dad expertly flying at night.
Another video posted on Ella’s Instagram account shows her taking photos of the scenery through a plane’s window.

Like her dad, Ella seems to love being in the sky.
“Me in my natural habitat,” she captioned the video.
Last Sunday the “Hairspray” actor shared a video announcing his latest aviation milestone: a license to fly a Boeing 737. He dubbed it “a very proud moment in my aviation history.”

He explained that his new license will be added to his already existing “747 and 707 licenses…,” and that so far, everything has gone smoothly with his new certification.
“I just received my 737 license. And it went very well, so just sharing my moment with you,” he said.
With his shiny, new license, the “Saturday Night Fever” actor will officially be able to fly a Boeing 737, in accordance to Alliance Aviation, which happens to be the biggest independent aviation training center in the US and Latin America.

The course is designed for pilots looking to go from flying private to commercial.
